Our IT team has 4 different departments: Information Security, IT Service Delivery, Business Enabling Systems, and IT Commerce & Customer Engagement.

IT Application Manager – PB Manufacturing, Sales, & Distribution


How this role will make an impact:

This position leads, manages, and executes the entire software development lifecycle and IT platform management for our Proprietary Brands co-manufacturing, distribution, and sales order capabilities. This position partners with our business leaders to understand needs of our proprietary brands business and is responsible for the span of planning processes through execution of value driven changes. You will lead and manage the team responsible for identifying, defining, and analyzing the production and supply chain planning, sales, and distribution requirements and work with cross functional IT and business teams to deliver improvements in our business through the solutions.

Your goals and responsibilities will include:

Project / Delivery Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with PetSmart IT and Business leaders, and sales order customers where appropriate, to establish priorities and create work plans to effectively manage the full lifecycle of delivering improvements to our business
  • Contribute to the development of Manufacturing metrics and implementation of related manufacturing strategies
  • Ensure appropriate stakeholders and teams are engaged in the solution so all effected systems and process are represented
  • Drive software and technology solutions as appropriate to enable improvement in processes and business management, including defining KPI’s and SLA’s
  • Provide leadership and guidance to develop and continually improve IT work intake and prioritization processes related to PetSmarts Proprietary Brands manufacturing, sales order capabilities, and broader IT work management
  • Understanding of the Supply Chain, Manufacturing and quality, and sales order business operations in detail; knowledgeable of current and possible future practices, trends, and information affecting multiple business functions and aspects of how they relate to other areas
  • Manage Deliverables for Solutions, including Design and Functional Specifications WRICEF
    • Create and update detailed team workplan (detailed task management)
    • Ensure prioritization and flow of scope items; Coordinate business resources, workstream resources and consulting resources to align on solution and document design
    • Manage delivery dates with team, communicate with Development Team and ensure sign-off by business owners. Responsible for ensuring completeness of documentation
    • Ensure teams are working in integrated capacity to delivery change management and training for necessary audiences
    • Ensure design adherence to standard security and financial controls, including Sar-Banes Oxley

Operational Responsibilities

  • Promote healthy systems and business processes by ensuring ongoing management of the application and supporting process, and current and future compliance regulations are covered within the scope of all change
  • Management of the software vendor for project engagements and operations support on the account
  • Partner with IT and Business operations teams to understand current issues and opportunities for improvements in systems, end to end integration with PetSmart and it’s internal and external customers and supporting processes. As prioritized, manage the execution of these changes within the SAP 4 Hana and manufacturing related environments.
  • Participate and assist in organizing PUG (PetSmart User Group) for SAP

People Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Ensure clarity of roles, functional alignment and expectations for team members
  • Ensure team has well-defined development plans and regularly discuss progress
  • Assist team members in defining and execute learning plans
  • Identify and provide opportunities for team to learn and grow
  • Responsible for 2 direct reports plus contractors and consultants as either staff augmentation or project staffing

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of SAP manufacturing systems experience and / or 7+ years of experience implementing large scale Production and Supply Chain Planning and Manufacturing Execution Systems, Quality Management, and Process Control Systems
  • Familiar with Lean manufacturing processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability for independent decision making, supporting large customer groups, and providing guidance and direction to highly visible projects
  • Demonstrated experience with business modeling and requirements management, as well as knowledge of project management methodologies and application implementation methodologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in ITIL concepts
  • Detail oriented, strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills required
