Buyer/Supply Manager

Have a strong interest in working in a Procurement/Manufacturing setting? Agilent Technologies has a great opportunity for a Entry-Level Buyer/Supply Manager!

As a Buyer/Supply Manger you will proactively manage the procurement of production materials from a global supply base. These materials are used in worldwide manufacturing and distribution locations that produce products with a wide variety of product volumes, manufacturing conditions, and constraints. The primary responsibility of this position is handling the assurance of supply of these production materials. The accountability is from product introduction through product obsolescence.

Position Responsibilities/Duties:

Assurance of Supply and Supplier Relationships:

* Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with suppliers.
* Set clear delivery expectations and manage to these expectations.
* Communicate material forecasting to suppliers.
* Release orders for material requirements.
* Ensure that accurate information is received, understood and acted upon by suppliers.
* Collaboratively address process related issues with suppliers.
* Periodically evaluate suppliers to ensure that expectations are being met.
* Coach suppliers to improve performance.
* Escalate issues as needed.

Material and Order Management:

* Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) data for accuracy and provide feedback to Planning
* Establish and maintain SAP part parameters. (Material Master, Source List, Information Records and Inventory Controls)
* Resolve material disruptions issues. Complete a root cause analysis.
* Implement inventory management plans for assigned parts.
* Maintain purchase order regulatory compliance. (SOX compliance)
* Manage part piece price. (e.g. volume discounts, payment terms, process improvements)
* Reconcile receiving and accounts payable problems.
* Handle the return of non-conforming material to suppliers.
* Handle excess material inventories and properly dispose of excess material.
* Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) in a timely manner.
* Effectively communicate with the worldwide order fulfillment organization.
* Escalate material issues to the commodity manager and procurement management team.

Critical Skills & Behaviors:

* Ability to reconcile supplier and customer issues (i.e. payment issues)
* Knowledge of appropriate systems (e.g. SAP, Ariba, MS Office, web tools)
* Understands philosophies of inventory management (e.g. FIFO, space optimization, VMI limits, cycle counts, warehouse storage)
* Understanding of product life cycle and NPI processes (nice to have)
* Ability to make well-informed decisions based on job knowledge and experience
* Practices financial responsibility
* Effectively prioritizes, maintains organization of materials and records
* Closes loop, documents agreements
* Possesses active listening skills and is able to give or receive constructive feedback
* Effective conflict resolution
* Adjusts communication style to match audience and culture
* Works effectively with both local and global teams
* Active participation on new initiatives, critical need areas, and cross-training

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s Degree, University Degree or equivalent education or specialized training/certification in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related business field.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability.
* Ability to be assertive in getting requirements met.
* Proficient with MS Excel.
* Basic knowledge of procurement procedures for supply chain management, inventory management and supplier management.
* Demonstrated decision-making ability and sound judgment.
* Has a passion for continuous learning.

Preferred:

* Experience working in a global team or virtual team environment.
* Experience and or knowledge of working with other cultures.
* Experience with SAP or similar ERP system.
