My name is Mark Jones and I live in Altadena, California. Altadena is located in the mountains just above Pasadena, home of the Rose Bowl Parade. I have been happily married for 17 years and have two daughters and a son. While a native of California, I grew up in Mississippi and Tennessee for most of my formative years. After college I moved back to California and have been here ever since.

Currently I direct the program improvement efforts of 8 elementary and 6 middle schools in the Compton Unified School District. Previously, I was principal of Franklin S. Whaley Middle School (6-8) in the Compton USD, principal of Horace Mann School (PreK-8) in the Beverly Hills USD, and the principal of the Thomas A. Edison Elementary School (PreK-6) in the Pasadena USD. I have over seventeen years of experience as a regular and special education teacher and as an educational administrator. I have taught students from the elementary through graduate levels. I continue to mentor and teach future administrators as an adjunct professor of educational leadership and technology at National University, Los Angeles.

From 1995 to 1997 I was a Program Director for the highly regarded Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) based in Baltimore, Maryland. My experience in managing and directing curricular design teams, planning and presentation of staff and teacher training, technology and budgets development, and implementation of large-scale grants is extensive.
