Kyra Hines-Allen named Women's Athlete of the Year, Banford Poole named Men's Athlete of the Year at Cheyney U (1171 hits)

The Cheyney University Athletic Department held its annual all-sports banquet on April 27 at Ada S. Georges Dining Hallto recognize and honor the outstanding Cheyney's student-athletes.


Senior Kyra Hines-Allen who averaged 14.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game was named as the women’s Athlete of the Year. Hines-Allen earned second-team all-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division honors for the second year in a row and finished her four-year career with 1,273 points and 616 rebounds.

Sophomore Banford Poole, who set a Cheyney University record in the 200 meter dash and placed fourth at the PSAC Indoor Championships, finished sixth in the 60 m and has qualified for three individual and two relay events at the PSAC Outdoor Championships to be held May 12-14 in Mansfield, was named as the men’s Athlete of the Year.
