Tennessee State hoping to build brand with Tennessee, Michigan at camps (733 hits)

Jim Harbaugh is taking his coaching talents to Tennessee State. At least temporarily.

TSU and coach Rod Reed will host prospect camps with Harbaugh and Tennessee coach Butch Jones this summer, the school announced on Tuesday.

Tennessee will be at TSU on June 4 while Harbaugh and Michigan will stop through on June 9.

“We are just trying to broaden our brand,” Reed said via TSUTigers.com. “We want people to get on campus and see we what have to offer. At times, when you get recruits on campus they do not realize the facilities we have and how nice it really is here at TSU. It is a great campus in a great city.”

Reed and his staff already have connections to the two P5 schools. TSU and Tennessee held a camp for 300 players in Hale Stadium in 2016. And Reed attended Michigan’s satellite camp at Oakland High School last year as well.

“There were close to 500 kids at the camp and we hope to get the same type of turnout,” he said. “Anytime you get a marquee program like Michigan to come down south to this area is big. They put on a great camp and we look to have the same type of success.”

TSU will close things out with Little Tiger Camp on June 12-15 for local youth.
