The second annual National HBCU Softball Classic is set to begin this week at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. on March 2-3, 2018.

Year two of this historic event will expand and showcase nine HBCU colleges and universities from across the country (Southern University, Langston, Huston-Tillotson, Talladega College, Texas Southern, Grambling State, Lincoln University, Texas College and Jackson State).

First pitch starts at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 2, when the Huston-Tillotson Rams take on Southern University on OG&E Energy Field. Each day will feature nine games on two fields and for a total of 18 games for the tournament.

"We had an amazing experience hosting this tournament last year, the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex is the premier venue for this and we're excited to be back again," Langston head softball coach Hosea Bell said. "In preparation for this tournament our planning committee was instantly open to the idea of expansion and we're thrilled to add Texas College and Jackson State to our tournament field this year."

"It was a no brainer to continue this HBCU Softball Classic at the premier softball facility in the United States," Rogers noted. "We're excited to host this prestigious event once again and provide another opportunity for over two-hundred student athletes from HBCU's across the nation

The classic will take part at the historic USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium which hosts the OSSAA high school state championship, the ASA/USA Slow Pitch Championship Series, the World Cup of Softball and the NCAA Women's College World Series.

Visitors can purchase a $15 weekend pass at the gate which gives them access to 18 games over the two-day period. Attendees can also purchase tickets individually per day for $10. Langston University students are free with a verified student ID. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.ticketstorm.com.

This year the Langston University athletic department is inviting all junior high and high school softball players to come out and enjoy the special price of $1 per player. Junior high and/or high school players must wear their softball jersey to receive the $1 admission.
