Thomas Named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year

Kia Thomas, the reigning Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player in 2017, has been named the conference's Volleyball Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, the SIAC announced Monday.
Four players ®C three first-teamers including Thomas ®C were chosen for the All-SIAC preseason team voted on by the SIAC's head coaches and sports information directors. Thomas, a middle blocker, was joined on the first team by middle blocker Brittany Warren-Dancy and setter Sierra Nelson. Outside hitter Taylor Prude was named to the second team.
Thomas, a sophomore, led the SIAC in 2017 in kills with 3.13 per game and hitting percentage (.338). She was named Newcomer of the Week twice last season and recorded a season-high 20 kills against Albany State and a season-high 25 points against Claflin. She helped lead the Lady Panthers to the 2017 Eastern Division championship.
The Lady Panthers were picked to finish second this season in the East Division, but had six first-place votes
