4 Rewarding Options for Students to Study at Home During the Pandemic

4 Rewarding Options for Students to Study at Home During the Pandemic
Posted By: Hannah Whittenly on November 20, 2020

Studying at home is a far different process for traditional students than they may have expected. Gone are most of the electives that they may have enjoyed, replaced with classes that are still trying to figure out pacing and content. If your student loves to learn, it may be a good idea to look into these four rewarding options for students to study at home during the pandemic.

Master Classes

One of the more amazing things about the pivot towards online learning over the last few years is the sheer number of amazing courses taught by subject-area experts. If your child has an interest in a specific area of the arts or sciences, you can likely find a master class that will allow your child to learn from the best. Usually composed of pre-recorded lectures and selected readings, these classes can be a great way for your child to dig into a favorite topic.

Specialized Classes

Another great way to keep your student engaged is by looking into those specialized classes that might not be offered in typical schools, such as religious courses. An affordable online bible study class is a great way for Christian students to connect to their faith while away from their family and home town.

Studying religious classes can also give greater insight to students during a time when they are most likely to be struggling to maintain their faith and practice so far away from their usual support system.

Independent Research

If your student is really driven to acquire knowledge, an independent research project might be the ticket. Whether it's through the school or on his or her own, any student can take a deep dive into online archives to learn more about a specific passion project. There are even guides online that will teach students how to use specific resources and many colleges have opened up their online libraries for just this type of work. This is a great opportunity for anyone who has ever wanted to take a deep dive into academia.

Collaborative Online Classes

Finally, it might be nice for some students to have a chance to work on collaborative projects online. With so many students now taking classes at a distance, it makes sense that students from across the country could collaborate with one another. There are many great online groups that allow young people to get together and work on projects in virtual spaces, some of which are incredibly impressive. This can be a great option for those students who are more social.

Online learning doesn't have to stop with virtual schooling. There are amazing options out there, most of which simply need to be found to be used. If your student loves to learn, the pandemic can present them with a unique opportunity to guide their own educations.
