Long-Term Careers That Require an Associate Degree
Posted By: Kara Masterson on October 26, 2022 Education could be required for most jobs, whether a high school diploma or general testing certification. However, you will need an associate degree or higher for some higher-paying and long-term careers that may be on your wish list. Below are some of the jobs you could take and turn into a successful long-term career with your two-year degree. Registered NurseThe medical field consists of many career options you can obtain with or without a degree. However, having your associate degree could lead to a long-term pathway in various fields, such as nursing. Once you have completed your coursework and passed the required examinations, you can become a registered nurse. If you want to boost your career with more responsibility, higher pay, and additional opportunities in the field, you can obtain a bachelor’s or master’s degree or specialized certification. However, having an associate degree in nursing can provide you with a long-term career as a registered nurse. Computer ProgrammingCoding computer software requires specific training and certifications, including associate degree programs. When you obtain this educational milestone, you could become a computer programmer and maintain the career for the long term. Various opportunities come with this position, from freelance to hybrid-style jobs, allowing you more flexibility while taking on computer programming projects. You can take your degree program online or in a traditional setting based on your preferences, availability, budget, and free time. Medical AssistantsTaking a medical assistant program, such as a two-year degree program, could prepare you to assist with billing, schedule patients for an employer, answer questions accurately via the telephone or in person, help with charting, and more. After taking the required coursework and passing the necessary exams, you can accelerate into a new career transition and socialize with others in the medical field. In addition to a long-term career, medical assistants who obtain an associate’s degree can receive many benefits, from high salaries to excellent insurance and continuing education credits. ParalegalIf the legal field is one of your interests, but you don’t want to go to law school for multiple years, obtaining an associate degree could lead to various opportunities, which include becoming a paralegal. You can receive legal experience and complete many daily responsibilities, from organizing essential files, retrieving and gathering facts, preparing contracts for upcoming cases and trials, and more. Longevity and compensation are some of the many benefits you could obtain after completing an associate degree for this career choice, along with the ability to help others and grow in your career over time. Not all great and long-lasting careers require a 4-year degree or higher. These are just a few reliable careers that only require an associate degree to get your foot in the door. Keep this in mind as you work on your future career plans. If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
