3 Things to Look for in a New Car

3 Things to Look for in a New Car
Posted By: Kara Masterson on November 23, 2022

According to a September 2022 analysis published by Forbes, new car sales across the United States got off to a great start shortly after the New Year, but they later became compromised by the extended complications in the global supply chain. Auto dealerships are seeing great demand for certain models, and they are putting some of their customers on waiting lists. Automakers plan to ramp up production in 2023, so this is certainly a good time to hunt for good deals. If you are in the market for a new car, here are three things to consider:

An Established Track Record of Quality and Workmanship

In the automotive world, quality refers to the ability of a car to deliver a hassle-free ownership experience, which goes far beyond styling and driving. Let's say you buy a new SUV equipped with a luxury trim package that includes premium upholstery; if the microfiber starts peeling off within 90 days of purchase, the automaker and the dealer will likely fix the issue at no cost, but this is a hassle that new car owners can certainly do without. Quality is easier to find in established collections; for example, the Ford Mustang has a long history of excellence.

Dealership Incentives and Perks

The price difference between auto dealerships that offer the same models is based on business models and strategies. The dealer with the lowest prices will not necessarily be the one generating more sales; this is because other dealerships in the same region are offering the right kind of incentives to attract smart buyers. An example in this regard would be an exclusive Ford dealer that attaches a comprehensive two-year maintenance and repair contract for two years. Not having to worry about paying for future **** changes, wheel alignments, tune-ups, or mechanical repairs is a major selling point because it adds true value to car ownership. Other incentives may include deeper discounts on specific models and reasonable in-house financing.

Total Cost of Ownership and Reliability

These two factors, which are sometimes intertwined, can tell you how far your dollar will go when buying a new car. In general, if you are the kind of car buyer who upgrades every few years, your total cost of ownership may be reduced with a higher trade-in value. On the other hand, if you want to drive your new car for several years, reliability is a more crucial factor.

By thoughtfully considering the three recommendations above, you should be able to make a smart car-buying decision. Don't forget to weigh the pros and cons of price versus driving experience.
