Governor Moore Installs Final Rail of the Purple Line, Visits Small Business During “Delivering for Maryland” Tour in Montgom

Posted By: Hija Chang on May 08, 2026 Governor Wes Moore today made the third stop on his statewide “Delivering for Maryland” tour in Montgomery County. During his tour, the governor joined elected leaders and state transportation officials at the future Purple Line 16th Street – Woodside Station to install the final segment of rail, marking the completion of 193,100 feet of track connecting Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. “In Maryland, our people have one very simple question for all of their elected officials: are you going to do what you say you’re going to do? People in Montgomery County have been asking that question about the Purple Line for over a decade, and today, we are delivering,” said Gov. Moore. “By completing over 16 miles of track from New Carrollton to Bethesda and putting more than 2,000 people to work, we are keeping our promise, strengthening Maryland’s economic competitiveness, and creating communities that thrive.” https://governor.maryland.gov/news/press-r...
