Overview
ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s New York City Transit & Rail team is looking for a Track Engineering Intern to join the team for Summer of 2026. Our group focuses on Railroad projects, primarily track design. We design plans and profiles for railroads. We have clients from all over the region that we do work for and are currently expanding our Track Engineering department.
Responsibilities
Assist in the development of plans, specs and analyses
Prepares basic sketches and calculations for site plan designs (e.g., layout and grading).
Skills and Attributes
Basic knowledge of fundamental civil engineering concepts and practices.
Familiarity with industry-standard design and analysis systems preferred
CADD familiarity preferred
Qualifications
Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
Our best estimate of the hourly salary range for this position located in New York is $19/hr - $28/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
