COREJOB SUMMARY
TheUMMGPediatricGI/Hepatologistprovidesmedical careto patientsbased on proper documentation in themedical record as outlined by the medical staff rules and regulations. Theincumbent in this positionreceives patient assignments basedon their educational discipline,expertise,or experience. Physicianwill work with the othertransplantHepatologists and critical carephysicians in the Division ofGI/Hepatologywith responsibilities including providing direct patient care topediatricoutpatientsatthe Miami Transplant Institute faculty practice (including satellite clinics) andpediatricinpatients atHoltzChildrens'sHospital/Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami. He/she will also be involved with undergraduate and graduate medical education.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Direct outpatient care topediatricpatients, including pre- and post-transplant patients.
Direct inpatient caretopediatricpatients, including pre- and post-transplant patients.
Attendance at multidisciplinary transplant conferences and rounds.
Develops and carriesout a comprehensive medical treatment plan addressing biological, psychological, andsociocultural domains.
Performs physical assessmentof patientsina logical and respectful manner.
Prescribes medical treatment and clinicalmedications to patients.
Gathers essential andaccurateinformation throughthereview of pertinent records and interviews with the patient, family members, caregivers,and other health professionals.
Assumes responsibility for increasing knowledge andexpertiseby attending continuing educational offerings.
Makesinformed decisions about interventions based on patient information andparent/guardianpreference, up-to-date scientific evidence in the field, and clinical judgment.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
Collaborate with all multidisciplinary service lines to help in the care of these patients both pre- and post-transplant; including co-chairing weekly Multidisciplinary Pre-Transplant SelectionCommittee meetings where candidacy of newLivertransplant referralsarereviewed and accepted or declined for listing.
Attendall MTIPediatricQAPI Committee meetings andparticipatein process improvement plans.
Analyze outcomes and trends in data analysis to determineappropriate performancemetrics.
Assistin data collection, analysis,trendingand interpretation of data.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

COREQUALIFICATIONS
Education:
M.D.or D.O. from an ABIM recognizedpediatricresidency
Completed Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Completed Fellowship in Pediatric Transplant Hepatology
Certification and Licensing:
Valid and unrestricted Florida Medical License or eligible to apply
Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
Ability to analyze,organizeand prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, andweekendsas necessary.
