This position coordinates all duties associated with the daily operation of the school's safety needs.</span></p><p><b><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Duties &amp; Responsibilities</span></b></p><ul type="disc" style="margin-top: 0"><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Implement and monitor laboratory safety and environmental compliance activities to support adherence to university policies and applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations and laboratory protocols across School of Chemical Sciences (SCS) facilities. Provide guidance on safety procedures and compliance practices.</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Coordinate operational aspects of the Chem Tracking system used for SCS facilities and safety operations, including maintaining chemical inventory records, supporting compliance documentation, and assisting with procedures related to regulatory reporting requirements.</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Coordinate laboratory safety and environmental compliance activities including assisting with safety training programs, inspections, preventative maintenance schedules, and monitoring laboratory equipment and materials for compliance with applicable safety standards</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Compile and maintain documentation, records, and data related to laboratory safety programs, inspections, compliance monitoring, and related activities. Work in a chemical storeroom environment, stocking shelves, receiving goods, filling solvent containers, and helping with physical inventory.</span></li></ul><p><b><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Qualifications- Both positions</span></b></p><p><b><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Required Qualifications</span></b></p><ul type="disc" style="margin-top: 0"><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental engineering, environmental health, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or a closely related field. </span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Two (2) years (24 months) of professional work experience in a safety or compliance related field.</span></li></ul><p><b><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Preferred Qualifications</span></b></p><ul type="disc" style="margin-top: 0"><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Demonstrated work experience in a chemical laboratory. </span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Demonstrated work experience using inventory database software. </span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Two (2) years of experience performing duties responsible for the daily operation of a chemical laboratory. </span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Received Certified Chemical Hygiene Officer certificate. </span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">General lab safety training including: PPE, Chemical handling, Hazard label recognition and Hazardous spill response.</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">Ability to prioritize work with disciplined time management to thrive in a multi-tasking and dynamic environment to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and organized manner.</span></li><li><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 115%">A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office desktop products. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The budgeted salary range for the Safety Coordinator is $55,000 - $60,000.
