Hi there,

Applications are now being accepted for the Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship. More than just academic funding and internships, this unique opportunity leads to an I.T. career in the Foreign Service, where you can use your tech skills to support U.S. diplomacy around the world.

Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the FAIT Fellowship provides up to $75,000 in academic funding over two years (junior and senior years of college or a two-year master's program), two summer internships, professional development and mentoring -- and culminates in an appointment in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist.

The FAIT Fellowship program was launched to attract outstanding tech talent to the Foreign Service that reflects the diversity of the United States. Members of minority groups underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply.

Are You Eligible to Apply?

As a two-year program that ends with an appointment in the Foreign Service, the FAIT Fellowship uses a cohort model. Applications for the 2022 cohort are now being accepted for individuals who will enter their junior year in fall 2022 or enter a two-year master's program in fall 2022. (If you are in a dual degree program, email us at FAITFellowship@twc.edu to check your eligibility). You must be a U.S. citizen and be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a full-time IT-related degree program at a U.S. based accredited institution.

See all of the eligibility requirements on the website and take the Eligibility Quiz.

What You'll Receive as a FAIT Fellow

As a FAIT Fellow, you can expect to forge new friendships, create a professional network, and build memories for a lifetime. Plus, here are the core benefits of the Fellowship:

  • Academic funding: up to $37,500 annually for tuition, room and board, books, mandatory fees and some travel expense, for the junior and senior years of undergraduate study, OR a two-year master's degree program in an IT-related field.
  • Stipends, housing and travel allowances for the two summer internships: A domestic internship in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. Department of State; and an international internship at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad.
  • Personalized mentoring and professional development opportunities throughout the program.
  • An appointment in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist after successful completion of the program and the State Department requirements.
