The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) currently has exciting new opportunities for employment in the Corporate Employee Program (CEP). A limited number of individuals are selected each year to participate in this entry-level, three – four year training opportunity as a Financial Institution Specialist. The CEP prepares FDIC’s workforce of Financial Institution Specialists (FISs) to be ready for rapid changes in the financial industry and resulting shifts in corporate workload. To achieve this flexibility, FISs are developed in an array of functional proficiencies so they can quickly transition to different mission-critical efforts. Financial Institution Specialists participate in the assessment of financial institutions to determine:
- safe and sound practices,
- violations of law and regulation,
- the adequacy of internal controls and procedures,
- the general character of management, and
- compliance with consumer protection, fair lending, and civil rights laws and regulations, as well as the Community Reinvestment Act.
