Hunter College is the largest CUNY college. Comprised of five schools, Arts and Sciences, Education, Nursing, Health Professions, and Social Work, Hunter enrolls over 23,000 students, and has one of the most diverse student bodies in the United States. Students earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree within a 3-year full-time curriculum. The Department of Physical Therapy is located on the Brookdale Campus of Hunter College on the east side of midtown Manhattan. The Department enjoys working relationships with major medical centers in the NY/NJ metropolitan area for research collaborations and clinical placements. The DPT program has dedicated classroom/laboratory space, a cadaver laboratory, and dedicated research space with state- of-the art equipment in the Hunter College Movement Analysis Lab. Faculty have unlimited access to the The New York Simulation Center for the Health Sciences (NYSIM) in addition to inter-professional teaching opportunities across CUNY campuses. Primary responsibilities include teaching in the Musculoskeletal curriculum and other areas of expertise as well as assisting with the Clinical Education program. Teaching will include both primary and co- instruction responsibilities. The successful candidate will also assist the Director of Clinical Education in the management of the clinical education program, including recruiting new clinical sites, scheduling student placements, and monitoring student progress through 4 clinical education experiences. The Doctoral Lecturer line is eligible for a Certificate of Continued Employment after 5 years of successful re-appointments with a record of excellence in teaching and service to the department, college and the profession. QUALIFICATIONS - Doctor of Physical Therapy degree required; PhD, EdD, DSc or equivalent preferred. - Expertise in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy with advanced clinical training preferred; candidates from other specialty areas of physical therapy will also be considered. - Board Certified Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) or other specialty preferred. - Prior experience of at least 5 years in a specialty area of physical therapy clinical practice. - Experience as a clinical instructor required; experience as an SCCE preferred. - Teaching experience at the college/university level. - Also required are an interest in scholarship and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution; experience/history of scholarship preferred. - The candidate should have an ability to integrate technology into instruction and be open to a variety of course delivery methods (e.g. online or hybrid) - History of active participation in the American Physical Therapy Association and other professional leadership experiences are desired. - Eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in New York State.
