Director, HR Services Operations and Marketing

How will you make an impact?
The HR Director will oversee the talent strategy for the Services Operations, Marketing and Finance COEs supporting the buildout, organizational design and structure for these organizations. The HRBP will be responsible for the services talent roadmap, potential integration/collaboration work, people processes, services programs and overall organizational effectiveness. The leader will also be responsible for coaching and developing a new leadership team and ensuring appropriate onboarding, training and development for the organization. The HR leader will serve as a trusted advisor to the business and HR partners and lead the change management strategy.

What will you do?

  • Be part of the HR Services leadership team across Thermo Fisher supporting 500+ colleagues globally
  • Oversee organizational design process and alignment on critical functional capabilities supporting Operations, Marketing and Finance.
  • Partner with the data insights team to complete organizational discovery work, external research to understand effective structure, and alignment on overall organizational roadmap
  • Translate strategic business plans into critical HR actions, programs, and initiatives through project and change management programs.
  • Develop HR strategy for Ops/Finance/Marketing, solutions and strategic workforce plans that align to the business and functional strategy and objectives.
  • Leverage a data driven approach to drive decision making and organizational effectiveness through talent and organizational capabilities and culture.
  • Develop and leverage partnerships with divisional HR partners to drive alignment and collaborative strategy.
  • Acts as a catalyst for change; guides and directs organizational design, development and change management solution by leading complex change management initiatives for the assigned client groups.
  • Develop innovative approaches to broad organizational design issues that support long-term business goals.
  • Drive stakeholder alignment with the ability to navigate a complex matrixed organization and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
  • Develops robust talent management plans and drives culture change initiatives to attract, retain, develop, and engage talent in critical roles.
  • Coaches senior leaders on complex leadership and HR issues including development, engagement, and talent performance and issues which could have the potential to create a competitive advantage for the business.
  • Builds organizational capability through development and/or facilitation of appropriate senior leadership team (i.e., team effectiveness, goal development and alignment, manager capability, etc.)
  • Keeps abreast of industry, market and functional trends, and leverages these insights to develop appropriate business unit HR strategies and solutions.
  • Evaluate and advise client groups on programs or strategies that impact the attraction, motivation, development and retention of the people resources of the business.
  • Partner with Business leaders to oversee and provide guidance on field activities, shape culture, and drive employee engagement.
  • Provide HR support and coaching to managers on HR policies and processes, people management, and career development.
  • Counsel and/or coach employees and managers regarding employee relations issues including performance management, facilitation of formal/informal investigations, and any resulting disciplinary actions.
  • Drive effective compensation equity and planning processes for the assigned client group.
  • Lead HR initiatives and annual HR processes for assigned client group.
  • Ensures fairness and organizational consistency with our 4-I Values in everything we do.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

How will you get here?
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field is required.
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Must have 10 or more years of experience in various aspects of human resources (organizational development, change management, project management, employee relations and organizational development).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Proven experience in proactive leadership and change management.
  • Strong business and financial acumen used to build business strategy and support organizational decisions.
  • Experience as a strategic business partner with credibility as a trusted advisor and confidant to senior management on business issues and business strategy with the ability to link human resources as a driver and influencer of business performance.
  • Experience with Process Improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Practical Process Improvement, etc.).
  • Can effectively secure and leverage resources to get work done through both formal and informal channels
  • Strong process improvement and project management orientation.
  • Strong analysis, problem solving, decision making, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with all levels of the organization including employee relations, coaching, communications and presentations, etc.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, work independently, multi-task, and follow up on projects and issues
  • Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands on exposure to the full mix of HR functions in a global environment.
  • A track record of positive results and an ability to show how his/her programs and initiatives have contributed to the growth and bottom line profitability of an organization while enhancing or driving cultural change.
  • Must have led/been directly involved in significant change management initiatives in prior roles.
