Content Specialist The East Coast Greenway is a walking and biking route stretching 3,000 miles from Maine to Florida, connecting the nation’s most populated corridor via equitable public space. In 2020, the Greenway hosted 50 million bike rides, runs and walks, becoming the most visited park in America. Based in Durham, North Carolina, the nonprofit East Coast Greenway Alliance is seeking a dynamic multimedia storyteller to fill the full-time role of Content Specialist. Supervised by the organization’s Marketing & Communications Manager, the Content Specialist will engage multiple audiences via the conception and creation of a wide range of digital content and supporting materials. The position will primarily work remotely, based either in North Carolina’s Research Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) or on the East Coast in close proximity to the Greenway route. Some travel and occasional evenings and weekend work will be required. Write news and feature blog posts for greenway.org and distribution via social media and monthly e-newsletter. Create, edit and manage photos and videos for the website, social media and other use. Maintain and update the organization’s website, greenway.org. Create and distribute monthly email newsletter with news and feature stories in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Manager and other staff. Develop content and design for publications, including annual report, funding pitches, reports, conference programs, presentation slideshows. In conjunction with the Marketing & Communications Manager and other staff members, plan, develop and execute engaging social media content for the organization’s growing audience of 130,000-plus followers. In conjunction with other team members, brainstorm and collaborate on developing content ideas and communications strategies to meet organizational goals. Create promotional and informational flyers, posters, banners and more for general and special events, maintaining and enhancing brand identity. Other related job duties as assigned or as they emerge. This is a full-time position with a salary of $40,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience, and a June 2021 anticipated start date. This position primarily will work remotely, based either in North Carolina’s Research Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) or on the East Coast in close proximity to the Greenway route. Retirement plan contribution matching (up to 3%). 3+ years of experience in content creation. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or relevant field. Excellent writing, copy editing and proofreading skills. Relevant communications experience in the environment, health, bicycle-pedestrian, outdoor recreation, economic development or a similar area of focus. Demonstrated experience in creating and editing engaging photo and video content for distribution across a variety of digital platforms. Strong graphic design skills and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office. Experience using Google Analytics and social media analytics tools is a plus. High level of productivity, able to meet deadlines and budgets for multiple projects from short-term to long-term time horizons. Able to work independently and responsibly, developing content ideas and strategies while contributing as a team player. Great attention to detail, balanced with swift execution. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with organization partners at all levels, from major funders and sponsors to agency partners, volunteers and Greenway users. Contact Information
