SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, the Margo Long Chair in Gifted Education is an experienced, dynamic, visionary teacher and scholar providing a local, regional, and national voice in gifted education. This position is fully funded by an endowment provided to Whitworth University. It is named in honor of Professor Emeritus Margo Long, the founder of the Center for Gifted Education at Whitworth and a beloved faculty member at the University for over 30 years. Working with our Director of our Gifted Education program, the Margo Long chair will focus in three main areas: 1. Pursuing strong, innovative research aimed at furthering an understanding of gifted education programming and equitable instructional practices; 2. Overseeing our regular Whitworth Center for Gifted Education Institutes aimed at professional development for educators across the state and nation, and; 3. Preparing educators for leadership roles in gifted education as classroom teachers or gifted education specialists.
STARTING DATE: FALL 2021
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

Education: Terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D.) from an accredited college or university in a related field (i.e., Gifted Education, Education, Psychology, Educational Administration, Leadership, etc.).
Experience: Five (5) years or more of experience working in higher education as faculty; demonstrated commitment to establishing positive working relationships with diverse groups of people and constituencies; experience working with college or university graduate programs
