Educational Technology & Support Specialist
SUMMARY
The Educational Technology & Support Specialist serves two important roles in the Technology Department. As both an Educational Technology Specialist and a Technology Support Specialist, this person should be able to wear two hats in the areas of technology within a school environment-- operational and educational; able to answer questions about which EdTech tool would be best suited for a specific project, while also assisting a student with an issue with their MacBook or helping a teacher who can’t seem to connect to their Apple TV or having WiFi issues. At times, this position may also assist other members of the LHP family by responding to support requests remotely. This is a 12 month, benefited, contracted and exempt position reporting to the Director of Technology and working in conjunction with the Educational Technology Coordinator and Associate Director of Technology Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Technology Support Specialist
Act as a primary level 1 and 2 support for the 1:1 Mac Initiative and technology needs at the Charles Clayton Campus (Middle School) and Bradshaw Campus (remotely).
Manages daily help desk tickets, including setting prioritization, and provides timely support
Assist in the management of the Mobile Device Management (Mosyle) system for iOS, macOS, and tvOS devices
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair when possible a host of equipment, peripherals, software, and iOS apps
Support users with Google Apps for Education and other online services
Facilitate repairs with 3rd party vendors
Facilitate work with student volunteers engaged in providing support
Maintain equipment checkout system, including loaner equipment, cameras, audio systems, and other peripherals
Contribute to virtual support resources for end-users, such as FAQs and instructions for
common support requests as well as internal documentation of procedures
Help maintain databases of hardware inventory, hardware maintenance, and software
installation
Provide multimedia set­up for special events
Assist in arranging for donation, sale, or recycling of older hardware
Assist in network connection problems
Assist with faculty laptop and student 1:1 device program including:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair software and hardware issues including Mac OS, Apple, iOS, and other systems in use
Coordinate communications with parents about procedures including repair and/or replacement of equipment
Coordinate equipment return process for departing students, faculty, and staff
Attend regular technology department team meetings (may attend remotely)
Attend Support Specialist meetings (Ops)
Attend EdTech Team Meetings
Maintain currency through constant reading and research, and attend conferences, workshops, and classes when appropriate
Maintain professional contacts with other schools and organizations
Provide outstanding customer service by taking complete ownership of customer interactions and providing excellent service that meets the scope and guidelines of the department as well as following school policies
Other duties and backup support as requested

Educational Technology Specialist

In partnership with the EdTech Coordinator and fellow EdTech Specialists, design and deliver professional development and growth experiences for faculty/staff in areas of technology integration and student-centered instructional design.
Assist with onboarding new teachers in the areas of Canvas, Google, Seesaw, PowerSchool, and other LHP EdTech needs and digital resources.
Actively research new and emerging educational technologies to ensure that LHP remains a leader nationally among independent schools in effective and innovative uses of digital tools and practices.
Create learning resources and training materials for teachers, families, students, and staff. These may include websites, tutorials, interactive guides, and programs that support teachers in integrating technology.
Inspire a culture of exploration and experimentation among faculty to integrate instructional technology tools and design thinking methodologies into their teaching practices.
Collaborate with faculty to assess needs and recommend suitable technology, digital resources, and activities for curriculum.
Assist in the evaluation process of EdTech Software Purchase requests made by faculty/staff and work with the team to evaluate, approve, train, and analyze the use of these tools and make these recommendations for purchase to the Director of Technology.
Serve as admin on educational technology licenses and digital resources, when appropriate, in an effort to provide timely support to teachers and students.
Assist in lesson planning that involves information literacy skills and technology tools.
Teach skills and concepts and serve as a resource when technology is used in the classroom.
Provide instruction and support to faculty and students in the appropriate use of technology and digital citizenship.
Collaborate with librarians to maintain information literacy skills sequence.
Train students, faculty, and staff to use hardware or software in one-on-one or group settings.
Update technology standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
Provide curricular and pedagogical expertise to update LHP’s academic technology planning efforts.
Help structure and promote both online and physical learning communities to facilitate teachers’ communication, collaboration, and professional growth.
Under the direction of the Director of Technology, partner closely with division leadership team members to support instructional technology, innovations, and other strategic initiatives in the classroom.
Empower faculty to use technology to collaborate, communicate, generate innovative ideas, investigate, and solve problems.
Support faculty and student use of school-provided classroom technologies such as G Suite, Canvas LMS, PowerTeacher, digital textbooks, software, applications and apps as selected by faculty for their courses and divisions.
Research, evaluate and promote new and emerging teaching and learning technologies
Attend and present at conferences related to technology and curriculum
Create a personal learning network of technology experts throughout the world.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

MINIMUM
Bachelor’s degree in education, education technology, technology, or related field
At least 3-5 years teaching experience
A demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the instructional program
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Experience or enthusiasm for working in a one-to-one program in the context of an Apple/Mac learning environment
Experience with GSuite for education
Experience with a range of software and operating systems including Windows 10, MacOS, iOS, GSuite for Education, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Office programs
Experience with Learning Management Systems
Experience working with MDM systems
Experience working with help desk systems
Experience with basic networking technologies
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively as a team player with colleagues in the faculty and administration

PREFERRED
Apple Certified Repair technician
Experience working with Mosyle MDM
Experience working with Canvas LMS
Apple Teacher (or equivalent)
Google Trainer (or Educator)
