Job Description
Summer Internship (Research Assistant at Research & Evaluation Company)
Rockman et al (REA), an employee owned research and evaluation firm, is seeking a summer intern who is interested in gaining hands-on experience in the fields of educational research and evaluation. Are you passionate about learning and studying educational media or educational programs for youth that take place in schools or as part of out-of-school programs? As a summer intern at REA you will have an opportunity to gain hands-on, real world experience while working together with our staff on a variety of diverse projects. This internship is perfect for those nearing completion of undergraduate studies or currently pursuing (or soon-to-complete) a graduate program in education, psychology, or another area of study related to the social sciences.

Research opportunities would likely include, but not be limited to: helping recruit participants for studies, administering surveys, conducting interviews, assisting with focus groups, conducting observations of programs designed to support multicultural educational environments and affirm the value of cultural diversity, helping to run play testing sessions with children and families, and helping to analyze various types data. The majority of work will take place remotely, so applicants are welcome from all parts of the United States. However, if local conditions and policies related to the COVID-19 pandemic permit, the internship experience may also include a few opportunities for onsite data collection in various locations around the US, with the cost of any necessary travel to be covered by REA.

Our summer interns will be paid $25 per hour, for an average of 20 hours per week over a twelve-week period—roughly from Mid-May to Mid-August 2021, though there is some flexibility on the exact starting and ending dates to accommodate applicants’ school schedules. We are especially interested in applicants with fluency in Spanish, applicants from diverse backgrounds, and applicants who are the first in their families to attend college. REA is actively seeking to broaden our collective perspectives while we strive to create a lasting culture of diversity, equity and inclusion within our organization—as such, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from members of underrepresented groups and strongly encourage persons of color to apply for this position.

If this opportunity interests you, send us a copy of your resume and a brief statement that tells us more about you, your special talents and skills, as well as your career goals and interests. Application materials can be sent via email to REA’s Director of Research Programs: Jennifer Borland at jennifer@rockman.com.
