Visiting Artist-In-Residence, Department of Theatre
The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Theatre is seeking applications for a temporary Visiting Artist-in-Residence (AIR) to direct a production of Dominique Morisseau's Blood at the Root. Additional responsibilities will include: the delivery of one 8-week course tied to the AIRís area of expertise (determined in consultation with the Department Head), and the provision of either studio hours for coaching, or a series of master classes or workshops to departmental students. The successful candidate will be expected to be on-campus from October 4-8, 2021 to attend auditions, visit the theatre space, and engage in design discussions. The extended on-campus work will extend from January 13, 2022 to March 11, 2022.

Building on its historic excellence in teacher education, the university has developed outstanding programs in business, natural sciences, humanities and fine arts, and social and behavioral sciences with advanced degrees available in many programs. The Universityís attractive size, approximately 10,000 students, allows UNI to offer faculty, facilities, and academic choices characteristic of a much larger university while retaining a friendly, small-college atmosphere on a park-like campus. Located in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, the campus is comprised of more than 40 buildings on 940 acres. For more information, visit www.uni.edu.

The successful candidate must have a MA or MFA in Theatre. Required qualifications include at least two years of directing shows at the university and/or professional level required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience directing plays focused on race-related issues.

Applications received by June 14, 2021 will receive full consideration. To apply, visit http://jobs.uni.edu/. Inquiries may be sent to Eric Lange at 319-273-6833 or eric.lange@uni.edu. Pre-employment background checks required.
