Job Description
Digital Communications Manager

Digital Communications Manager serves to maintain the Film Centerís digital presence via website, social media, graphics, and ads. Works as part of a team with the Executive Director and the Coordinator of Media & Community Engagement to develop short and long-term promotional plans for the GSFC informed by data. The role is intimately involved with the development of marketing campaigns and responsible for creating the associated art, design, and copy layout to deliver visually engaging concepts both digital and in some instances print that reflect the Gene Siskel Film Center (GSFC) brand. A primary responsibility of the Digital Communications Manager is managing and maintaining the GSFC website.


Website and Social Media

Keeps up to date with emerging digital communications platforms and technologies to ensure that the GSFC is maximizing all opportunities in these areas.Maintains the GSFC website with the monthly calendar and regular updates, refreshes the site as needed, updates program information as required.

Manages web page production, ensuring accuracy and brand standards are met.

Works with the Coordinator of Media & Community Engagement to maintain the Film Centerís social media presence through brainstorming and drafting content, maintaining platform-appropriate language, keeping comments current, creating events and ads, engaging with audiences, and alerting organizational staff of relevant comments and requests that require action.

Email Marketing and Campaigns

Drafts, implements, maintains, and revises the Film Centerís regular weekly e-newsletter and other email marketing campaigns.

Responsible for maintaining email subscriber database and segmentation and ensuring best practices in email marketing.

Oversees creation of Marketing Cloud emails for promotional and development initiatives.

Routinely provides analytics for email and social media campaigns and examines effectiveness of promotional material.

Advertising and Design

Works with the Coordinator of Media & Community Engagement to arrange, design, and deliver advertisements to vendors based on org-wide advertising plans.

May also be involved in creating program booklets and other materials for print or digital distribution as needed.

Responsible for maintaining digital and physical archives of assets used for design purposes such as film stills, and event photographs, and film trailers.


Supports the development team to plan digital fundraising appeals.

Oversees maintenance of internal databases related to membership and film attendance.

Represents the Gene Siskel Film Center to the larger institution (SAIC/AIC) in issues related to digital platforms.

Performs other duties as assigned.


A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

Two to four yearsí experience as a project manager working in digital communications and or related work experience preferred.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, Premiere Pro; basic HTML and CSS, web and social networking technologies and Mac OS.

Proficient in managing documents in Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, Forms, etc. as well as in Microsoft Word & Excel.

Proficient with web design. Experience with Drupal or other web content-management platform preferred.

Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other email marketing platforms preferred.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.

Passionate about film.
