Program Coordinator, Veteran Caregiver Support (Part Time)
Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable and secure military families. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Part Time Veteran Caregiver Support (VCS) Program Coordinator position in San Antonio, TX.

The Veteran Caregiver Support (VCS) Program Coordinator will serve as the primary assistant of the Veteran Caregiver Support Manager, responsible for the overall management of the Veteran Caregiver Support (VCS) program. This position provides support and information to the caregivers of wounded warriors; creates and oversees support group sessions and ensures consistency and quality of programming. This position develops and implements new and innovative programs focused on measurable outcomes and quantifiable results and works closely with community and military professionals to provide quality referrals. The VCS Program Coordinator institutes new guidelines for collaboration and integration of VCS programs across other non-profits or similar mission-driven entities. This position may be expected to travel with the VCS Manager to San Antonio based retreats as needed.

Desired candidates will have:

Bachelorís degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred
1 year experience in non-profit program management preferred.
Knowledge of caregiver issues including PTSD, TBI, Compassion Fatigue and Veteranís Affairs a plus.
Experience working with military families and volunteers a plus.
Experience coordinating support groups for adults a plus.
Experience with MS Office programs, VolunteerHub, Lync a plus

This position assists the VCS Manager as required to accomplish the following essential job functions:

Develops and oversees program standard operating procedures and manages program budget to ensure best use of the program funds; responsible for the management of the annual program budget.
Works with groups of caregivers; develops, plans and implements support groups, activities from curriculum in a manner that motivates and engages caregivers and strengthens their support systems and social skills.
Assists in outreach to military leadership, other military agencies, case managers and other resources and develops and cultivates additional partners and collaborations to increase program involvement.
Assists Field Offices by developing contact lists in areas where special events will be held to ensure maximum event participation.
Coordinates care package shipments, communicates regularly with accounting and administrative personnel regarding the needs for materials and supplies to support the program.
Works directly with clients in need, helping them find resources and access to counseling. Assists clients with registration for the program or for retreats.
Assists with all aspects of the monthly newsletter. Actively monitors the online forums and starts threads to spur regular discussion and interaction. Provides content associated with the website and Facebook page to the technology staff.
Reviews current member files and assists in collection of necessary paperwork for eligibility.
Supervises, trains and mentors program staff, volunteers, contractors or additional staff within the VCS Program, if applicable. May be required to provide supervision to AmeriCorps members.
Conducts annual retreats, events, meetings and other fundraisers if warranted.
Records, monitors and manages large member database.
Performs other duties as assigned.
