Job Description
Senior Instructional Technologist
The Senior Instructional Technologist will support the instructional team and course staff in managing courses for the First-Year Engineering (FYE) Program. These courses are the first experience for new beginning Engineering students at Purdue. These courses introduce students to the tools and concepts of engineering, as well as provide them with opportunities to explore the different engineering majors on campus. Their experience in the FYE program launches their Engineering career at Purdue.

The Senior Instructional Technologist will:
Aid the instructional team in the operation of technology useful in support of large enrollment courses
Oversee implementation, management, and maintenance of the logistical, educational, and technology operations (materials and equipment for classroom operation)
Assist with the assessment of the operation of the FYE labs including FYE course utilization of the lab technology to provide recommendation for future course and lab modifications
Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standards for instruction delivery
Help create new and revised exercises to increase efficacy in the classroom
Manage the operation of the departmental hardware devices (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.) and other lab technology and tools for course project use
Investigate new hardware devices to be used for instructional projects as well as instructional equipment and software for course delivery for the First-Year Engineering program.
Prepare and maintain course materials, order supplies and equipment, train lab personnel, or deliver course learning materials
Develop and deliver training to Undergraduate Teaching Assistants (UGTAs) regarding job function and performance expectations
In consultation with course staff, organize UGTA selection and assignments, provide oversight of UGTA activity, and evaluate UGTA performance throughout the semester

Required:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, engineering technology, or related field
Four (4) years of experience using technology tools (both hardware and software) to support projects or programs
Experience coordinating complex logistical activities involving large numbers of people or events
Proficiency in MATLAB and Python
Expert in Microsoft tools, Excel especially, in an engineering environment
Supervisory experience
Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with frequent interruptions
Strong communication, interpersonal, public speaking skills
Strong attention to details and high level of accuracy
Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instructional technology software and hardware equipment in classroom laboratories
Ability to independently learn and adapt new technologies to instructional needs, and incorporate engineering concepts into course labs and projects according to course syllabi
Ability to problem solve, function under pressure, meet deadlines, and demonstrate creativity in a fast-paced changing work environment
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Ability to work well with people of various cultural backgrounds
Teachable attitude, willingness to learn new tools and methods, and ability to critique operations and provide useful feedback
Positive attitude, patience, and the ability to explain problems and instruct students
Ability to lift and carry 10 to 25 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally

Preferred:
Experience mentoring and/or supervising undergraduate students
Experience interpreting academic materials for classroom implementation and grading
Working knowledge of software used for course management (e.g., Brightspace)
Knowledge of an engineering design cycle
