Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to align appropriate information technology compliance practices with ASU’s business strategies through the management of IT Policy and Standards, compliance reporting by distributed technology units across the enterprise, and alignment to regulatory, legal and compliance requirements working with partners throughout UTO and the enterprise. Under direction of the Director of Governance, performs work of considerable difficulty in planning, developing, and managing IT Policy- and Compliance-related initiatives and activity, including managing resources of assigned areas to accomplish defined initiatives. Supervises staff that supports the business unit. This position reports to the Director of Governance and assists the director in all aspects of operational management. As with everyone in the UTO family, culture and communications are core responsibilities in this role.

Essential Duties
This role is pivotal in enabling visibility to the enterprise IT risk posture and informing the governance, risk and security practices for ASU IT. Responsibilities include
• Evaluate and manage compliance by distributed technology units across the enterprise
• Work with teams and subject matter experts across the enterprise to research and develop mature IT policy
• Design and communicate compliance strategy to senior leadership
• Define compliance practices for the enterprise
• Research and inform entities across the enterprise about pertinent IT compliance requirements and regulation
• Train representatives of distributed technology units on the compliance reporting process
• Manage and communicate the IT Policies and Standards lifecycle
• Support IT audit of IT Policies and Standards
• Provide visibility to enterprise IT compliance by working with the senior distributed IT Leadership across ASU
• Build an understanding of requirements, tools and processes to drive compliance across the enterprise
• Work with a diverse group of enterprise stakeholders to achieve success for the IT Policy and Compliance program, including enterprise Risk Management, Office of General Counsel, Procurement, and Audit
• Partner with UTO Data Governance, Privacy, and Security teams to identify and implement sound IT Policy and Compliance functions
• Partner with Security, Privacy and Data Governance teams to identify security controls and alignment to IT policy and standards, and compliance reporting
• Manage the IT Policy and Standards lifecycle including developing policy, and managing the body of IT policy and standards, and workgroups and similar supporting governance structures
• Measure and forward compliance maturity through processes, services and strategic partnerships with enterprise compliance partners and distributed technology units.
• Manage issues identified through external and internal audits and assessments
• Document work performed for all audits and assessments and provide support for required responses
• Manage processes and tools for compliance reporting from distributed technology units throughout the enterprise.
• Track and report compliance metrics
• Manage IT Policy and Compliance team staff
• Oversee the roadmap for compliance-related processes and tools
• Own the delivery of IT Policy and Compliance strategy, benchmarks and alignment to enterprise strategy
• Effectively communicate vulnerabilities and gaps in enterprise IT compliance and reporting
• Consult and communicate with distributed technology unit senior leadership regarding new and changed policy, and compliance
• Manage the IT Policy lifecycle including review and approval by appropriate entities, publishing, and integrity of the online catalog and change logs of policy and standards.
• Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in technology, business management, communications or related field and five years of experience leading technical teams, which include three years of supervisory/management experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
