For more than 110 years, Milton Hershey School (MHS) has helped children realize their full potential by offering a top-notch private, cost-free education to students in pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade from income-eligible families. To expand and enhance the impact of Milton and Catherine Hershey’s vision, the Boards and management of Milton Hershey School and the Hershey Trust Company are launching the Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning (CHS), a cost-free, non-residential early childhood education program.

CHS plans to open six early childhood education Centers by 2027. The Centers are designed for children from birth to age 5 from economically disadvantaged and at-risk backgrounds with the goal of encouraging the development of a child’s educational, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical well-being. The CHS Initiative will provide a focus on core early learning programs through a rigorous and relevant curriculum that is aligned with a mission to nurture and educate enrolled children. Children also will receive supports such as nutritious meals and provisions of supplies, among other early learning enhancements. Finally, CHS will offer integrated support services for families of children enrolled in the Centers.

Role Description:

The Finance Manager of the Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning will oversee Finance operations for the CHS initiative and ensure alignment with policies, procedures and best practices established by MHS. The Finance Manager of CHS will lead multi-year financial planning, budgeting, reporting, analysis and other financial management activities as needed in support of CHS. This individual will provide financial leadership to support the CHS Central Office and CHS Centers in meeting initiative execution plan goals and timelines. The Finance Manager will be responsible for:

Developing and overseeing the CHS initiative annual budget in coordination with CHS Central Office and Center Leadership
Working with the CHS Central Office and Center Leadership to assess and forecast the initiative’s operating and capital funding needs over time
Supporting the capital review, approval, forecasting, and project close-out process
Preparing financial reporting updates for the MHS Board of Managers, CHS Board of Directors, and CHS Leadership
Supporting the annual shared services transfer pricing calculation in alignment with MHS and department shared services leads
Ensuring alignment to established policies and internal control procedures
Serving as primary point of contact for CHS Central Office and Center financial matters
Supporting monthly and fiscal year end close process as the point of contact for the CHS Central Office and Centers to ensure the recording of accurate accruals in accordance with US GAAP
Supporting the annual audit process and external filings including the preparation of the 990
Reviewing and approving invoices, purchase orders, procurement contracts
Acting as Central Office and Center expert for financial systems required to support CHS
Supporting the testing of ERP systems as it relates to CHS in upgrades and roll out of new functionality

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
Minimum 5 years-experience in Finance related role
Experience using ERP systems to manage financial data. PeopleSoft experience a plus.
Expertise with standard financial and accounting procedures and financial regulations
Strong ethics with a demonstrated ability to manage confidential data
Exceptional demonstrated attention to detail
Skilled in quantitative analysis, with a proficiency in utilization of Excel.
Demonstrated ability to create & present work financial reports and forecasting to C-Suite level leadership
Demonstrated ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and manage multiple parallel work-streams
Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
Exceptional time management and project management skills
Professional qualifications such as CFA/CPA preferred
Experience in non-profit accounting, including compliance and reporting a plus
Commitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for students
Exceptional communication skills – written, verbal, and platform
Proficiency in using technology, including MS Office and Internet
U.S. work authorization required.
