The Office of the Vice Provost for Research & Scholarship, Office of Research Administration has a job opportunity for a full time Sr. Grant Assistant (Accounting) at the Coral Gables Campus.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Grant Assistant (Accounting) supports a robust grant and contract portfolio, and ensures pre- and post-award requirements are met. Moreover, this position acts as a liaison for faculty and staff to various central support offices. The Sr. Grant Assistant works independently in aiding and monitoring of sponsored agreements from award set up through closeout while adhering to University, State and Federal policies. This position plays an important role in post-award Administration in providing support to ensure proper award setup, budgets, allowable expenses, cost transfers and effort reporting.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs post-award functions, including award setup, budget distributions, expense monitoring, labor distribution transfers and associated communications with customers, and re-budgeting.
Interfaces directly with sponsors, the Office of Research Administration, the Office of Res
earch Compliance, the IRB, IACUC and other related UM entities.
Review and approves Payroll Accounting Adjustments and associated communications with customers, re-budgeting.
Review and approves expense transactions and journal/cost transfer entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintains regular communications with departments and communicates with fiscal contacts at funding source for problem resolution and information gathering.
Supports the sponsored programs department in education and training of principal investigators and administrators; assesses needs and resolves issues of the principal investigator related to grants accounting; performs analysis and support for projects.
Ensures high quality and efficient service to the research community.
Provides assistance to manager in the planning and implementation of innovative customer service initiatives.

High School diploma or equivalent. Associates in Business, Finance or Accounting preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. University research administration experience preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
