Job Description

The University Technology Office (UTO) is at the forefront of developing IT platforms and tools that add value to the student experience and the rest of the university as needed.

The Portfolio Owner – Trusted Learner Network contributes to the effective development, deployment and management of blockchain-related technology tools and apps by engaging and supporting product owners and directors as they move forward with DLT-backed initiatives around the institution. The ideal individual for this role is dynamic, entrepreneurial and comes to the table with a toolbox of product management techniques.

Additionally, the Portfolio Owner - Trusted Learner Network acts as product owner for the Reverse Transfer application, which operates as a part of the larger Trusted Learner Network portfolio. This app productionalizes the reverse transfer process between community colleges and ASU. The successful candidate will act as a point of contact and conduit between the customer community (internal and external) and the IT development team by capturing the voice of the customer, as well as serve as a liaison between business units (ASU UTO, EdPlus' ASU Online and the ASU Provost office, primarily the Registrar team), technology teams (including IT security), and other support teams.

Key skills and mechanisms for this role include: supporting cross-functional communication between initiatives and stakeholders, negotiating internal processes for success, procuring resources; and overseeing interoperability measures that maintain cohesiveness across the suite. The Portfolio Owner - Trusted Learner Network will be responsible for managing cross-functional responsibilities while working closely with technical resources, functional stakeholders, Project Managers and Product Owners to implement products and services. The successful candidate’s experience leading and influencing diverse teams will be an asset to this role and their ability to 'productize' necessary solutions will be critical to their success.

Essential Duties
• Create an outcome-driven product roadmap, including new features or improvements, based on industry-related expertise, user experience, and at the direction of key stakeholder groups
• Responsible for understanding and communicating the customer needs and product vision, providing rapid feedback to technology team; steers projects to ensure delivery of business value
• Define product initiative scope, identify clear opportunities for impact, set the goals for the technology tools, and establish clear evaluation criteria
• Drive effective product delivery, integration, and coordination, through a highly collaborative approach and effective resourcing, budgeting, product and project and process management, communication, and reporting
• Select, engage, and coordinate where appropriate public and private partners from industry, government, and academia in the initiation, leadership and management of the product
• Utilize user-centered design, lead the development and the deployment of pilots with partners and other stakeholders
• Develop the execution strategy and product plan using an agile framework and work with third party vendors and brand teams to manage, prioritize and execute agreed upon deliverables for the specific tools
• Partner with development, project management, and leads on major projects and with the development team to understand functionality, negotiate scope, and implementation for future troubleshooting - especially on third party integration projects
• Oversee the development of an architectural diagram that covers all end-to-end product design and development across the enterprise
• Partner with IT Development team and other business units on tasks needing to be coordinated with releases
• Oversee user experience efforts for designing solutions that are fit for purpose
• Verify business requirements, functional specifications and/or user stories from various technical and business units
• Manage in-person and virtual teams
• Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in UTO/ASU events and programs

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field and seven (7) years related experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role; one (1) of which is in product management, or any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications
• Evidence of a Masters (or higher) degree in Computer Engineering or technology, or similar fields
• Experience in private or public sector, including working on or consulting on relevant and related topics (5 years)
• Experience with thought leadership regarding Product Management, including published articles, speeches/presentations in international forums, and conference participation
• Evidence of driving entrepreneurial projects, starting new teams, and identifying opportunities for impact in crowded spaces
• Experience in designing and driving medium to large-scale product design and delivery
• Experience in engaging global leaders from the private and/or public sector
• Experience with Blockchain or distributed ledger technologies
• Experience in recent digital platforms including working knowledge of CRM and
• Demonstrated knowledge of Marketing Automation tools; Salesforce experience a plus
• Experience in quickly developing a meaningful perspective on internal and external issues that have organizational impact
• Evidence in having leadership skills with the experience to manage and motivate high performing, dispersed teams through volatility, uncertainty, complexity, risk and ambiguity
• Experience in presentation and facilitation skills
• Evidence of effective verbal and written language skills
• Verbal proficiency in a second language would be an asset
• Experience with connecting siloed data sources and systems using an Enterprise Service Bus
• Mulesoft experience a plus
• Working experience leveraging Master Data Management concepts as part of an implementation strategy
• Ability to model empathy, compassion and emotional intelligence
• Ability to help foster a safe psychological space for all teammates where everyone can thrive
• Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment
• Ability to lead by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution’s sustainability programs

Working Environment
• Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
• Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
• Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
• Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
