Personal Technology Specialist
Required Education

Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent experience required.

CompTia A+ certifications preferred.

Required Experience


Minimum 1-2 years of maintaining PCs, Macs, desktops, and laptops.

Primary Duties/Essential Functions

Work with the team to continually improve and provide ownership of the teamís products

Support APUís HP and Apple computer fleet and other personally owned devices, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, imaging, repair, and inventory

Support APUís HP printer fleet including basic maintenance and troubleshooting

Setup, configure, and maintain both PC and Macintosh desktop and laptop computers based on customer request

Teach student technicians in proper repair and troubleshooting techniques

Mentor student employees in a wide range of IT support topics

Create and maintain support procedures and documentation

Promptly respond to and resolve customer problems related to the operation of all application software and operating system
Actively respond to and communicate with customers in a timely manner in regards to the status of their support

Maintain a safe and secure environment for customer property and data

Attend and participate in IMT forums and meetings

Stay current on emerging trends in computer hardware and software

Perform other duties as assigned

To enable IMT services to operate normally at all times, this person is required to be available by telephone for management, consultation, and liaison with support, development and technical staff after normal working hours and on weekends. This may require considerable onsite
e to manage emergency situations.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift, pull, grasp, bend to lower file drawers and reach to top of 4 drawer file cabinet

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Repetitive keyboard work

Telephone usage-hearing and speaking. Intermittent sitting and standing.

Ability to conduct business at other offices on campus

Some climbing of ladders

Visual Demands

Computer monitor and reading.


Pleasant office setting, comfortable temperature.


Proficient in Google Apps for collaboration, Microsoft Office, and other cloud based productivity tools.

Work management, support ticketing, development and issue tracking tools such as JIRA and Ze
Technical collaboration tools such as Wiki, chat, activity streams etc.


Grade 10: $25.94-$33.72/hourly

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
