The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a full time Medical Assistant II.
The Medical Assistant II performs a variety of routine duties in a hospital or clinic to assist medical and nursing staff in the examinatio
n and treatment of patients.
Obtains vital signs and patient information for inclusion in the patient's medical record.
Administers injections or treatments, performs routine laboratory tests, and assists in other patient care activities, such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
Prepares treatment room for examination of patient.
Assists with physical examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the doctor as directed.
Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures. 6.) Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments while observing the principles of sterile technique. 7.) Schedules patients for tests and completes required forms for laboratory work.
Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
Orders, stocks, and inventories supplies and escorts and transports patients to v
ious hospital locations.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions
Assists in minor procedures- Skin Biopsies, suture removal and/or l&Ds- using aseptic techniques.
Follow infection control policies, universal precautions for cleaning and sterilizing equipment and completion of all quality control logs.
Perform POCT testing and in-office procedures (e.g.: cerumen removal)
Document POCT results, all office procedures done and medication/vaccine administration.
Keep Temperature Logs to date
Keep AED to date
Review daily staff schedule
Plan daily workflow and lunch coverage
High school diploma or equivalent
Certification and Licensing:
Certified Medical Assistant Certification
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
