The Assistant Director provides support across the key functions of the Office of Academic and Student Services. On the academic side, the Assistant Director is integral to the course scheduling, registration, and examination processes. On the student services side, the Assistant Director is actively involved with providing academic and general student advising, connecting students to resources at the Law School and across the University, working with student organizations on their events and programs, and helping to coordinate and promote various events and programs led or co-led by the office. The work of the Assistant Director also helps to ensure that online resources (forms, website, etc.) are effective, that requests for various certifications and other actions by students are met, and that the officeís administrative support for graduate bar admission and related reporting is achieved.
The Assistant Director provides support for 30+ student organizations to help ensure successful programs, events and community building for the Law School, and supports over 100 unique annual events a year.
The Assistant Director engages with all of the administrative departments within the law school as well as departments at the University that provide services to BC students generally. The Assistant Director engages with outside vendors and with various state bars and serves on various committees across the University and Law School.
The position reports to the Associate Director of Academic Advising & Student Services. Essential functions include:
Course Scheduling, Registration & Advising:
Works closely with the Associate Director to plan course schedules and enter course information in the course scheduling platform (OfCourse) and EagleApps.
Registers 1L students for their fall classes, and assists with other registration tasks including independent studies, variable credit/audit forms, optional pass/fail forms, add/drop forms and related registration questions.
Stays up to date on academic policies and procedures and advises students related to registration and degree audits.
Helps answer general advising, other academic and personal questions that come to the main Academic & Student
Services inbox and/or in person from students. Connects them as appropriate to resources within the law school and University.
Student Orgs, Marketing, Events and Communications
Works closely with the Associate Director on event planning, support of LSA/orgs, and student formation.
Maintains and updates the student organization website (Engage/MyBC) and must use sound judgment to filter, approve and provide oversight and guidance to all student events.
Reserves rooms, creates event flyers/marketing, and updates websites and social media when appropriate for events and programs.
Ensures content for BC Law external website pages devoted to Current Students and all other external website pages that fall under the scope of Academic & Student Services is updated appropriately and consistently by the office.
Assists with office programs and events such as pre-orientation, orientation, and commencement.
Examinations and Grades
Manages all Law School exams through ExamSoft, utilizing the systemís secure software and on-line test taking systems.
Manages blind-grading process, including creating accounts for all students and entering accommodation information.
Works with faculty to ensure they meet deadlines for submitting exams, and enters exams into ExamSoft.
Coordinates exam printing, troubleshoots exam issues in coordination with ATR, and proctors exams as needed.
Assists with entering grades.
Administration and Bar Support
Ensures that necessary correspondence for student actions such as student letters of good standing, letters of recommendation, 3:03 certification letters, letters for permission to visit away, letters for permission to transfer, health related letters and parking related letters are completed and filed according to department policies.
Prepares bar passage reports (ABA, Commonwealth of MA, etc.) and reviews with Director of Academic Success
Programs, Assistant Dean and other law school leadership.
Updates Character and Fitness tracking spreadsheet and helps support character and fitness work of the Associate Dean,
Strategic & Student Affairs.
Prepares educational/bar certifications and other appropriate responses to state bar examiners requests.
Serve as a collaborative team member of the office and the law school participating in projects, reports/analysis, new initiatives and programs, school-wide programming (orientation, commencement, etc.) and supports the office as assigned.
Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $47,500 to $59,350; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Bachelorís degree required.
Masterís degree in a relevant field preferred
1-3 years of directly related experience, specifically in higher education
Computer and systems proficiency with particular expertise in Google Docs and Sheets, Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new technologies, software, and applications
Expertise in registration platforms and student life platforms is a plus
Some evening and weekend work may be required
