SRI Education is committed to bringing rigorous and equitable research and evaluation data to bear on important programmatic and policy decisions concerning K-12 public education. We are seeking to hire a research data coordinator who will work as a team member on multiple inter-disciplinary projects.
Assignments will include work on multiple ongoing projects related to school reform, teaching quality, STEM & Computer Science, digital learning, and transitions to higher education and the workforce. As part of our research in these fields, SRI collects and analyzes both original data (e.g., SRI-administered surveys and assessments) and extant data (e.g., data collected and maintained by districts or states).
In collaboration with more senior researchers, responsibilities will include:
Managing data collection and data processing for teams on multiple projects
Building, using, and maintaining databases and other data tracking systems
Creating, refining, documenting, and implementing processes and tools to improve efficiency and accuracy for large-scale data collection and management
Cleaning and preparing data for analysis, including identifying the sample, recoding, creating variables, and merging and reshaping files
Supporting senior analysts in running descriptive analyses and statistical models to analyze quantitative data
Providing careful and clear documentation of data cleaning and analyses
Contributing to the creation of data visualization and report-ready exhibits

Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, public policy, psychology, sociology or other related discipline
A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional work experience, including large-scale data management using databases
Experience designing, creating, or modifying databases, especially QuickBase
Working knowledge of data management and quality assurance
Track record of improving organizational standards and procedures around data collection and management
Ability to collaborate closely with team members
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to balance multiple projects, prioritize tasks and take initiative
Good people skills, a desire to learn, and the ability to communicate clearly
A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion both in research and in the workplace
Research, professional, or volunteer experience in or with the US public PreK–16 education system, working with Black or African American, Latino, Latinx, or Hispanic students, or students and families with limited financial means
Experience cleaning, processing, or wrangling messy data and preparing it for analysis, especially in Stata, SAS, R, or Python
Experience working on or supporting education research studies; may be part of a formal education program or professional work experience
Advanced skill with Microsoft Excel
Advanced skill or experience with SmartSheet
