About this position
The department of Medical Supply Chain at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Manager, Contract Administration role. The Manager, Contract Administration will join the Contract Administration team and be responsible for managing all phases of contract development, including drafting and negotiating a broad range of contracts across the University of Miami (UM) enterprise. The position is responsible for providing advice and counsel to internal clients across the enterprise with respect to contracting matters of strategic importance to UM. The position reports to the Director, Contract Administration.
List of Duties and Responsibilities
Works closely with and provides daily support to the Director, Contract Administration in drafting, analyzing and negotiating a broad range of agreements across the UM enterprise, including, but not limited to, data privacy agreements.
Conducts in-depth analysis of contract requirements, special provisions and terms and conditions to ensure compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and enterprise-wide policies; works with stakeholders to develop a thorough understanding of the business case and financial implications.
Identifies and analyzes complex legal/regulatory/business issues and provides appropriate advice.
Advises and counsels internal clients across the enterprise in a clear and concise manner that effectively conveys contractual risk assessment.
Engages both internal clients and third parties to negotiate contract terms favorable to UM.
Ensures state, federal and (where applicable) international regulatory compliance, as well as compliance with enterprise policies and procedures, in all aspects of contract administration.
Assists the Director, Contract Administration in cultivating and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with other operational units and executive leadership throughout the enterprise.
Works with a significant degree of independence and minimal supervision on day-to-day contracting matters.
Ensures approval and execution of contracts in accordance with UM policies and contracting standards.
Keeps abreast of new legal and regulatory developments that affect or may affect the University, including new data privacy regulations.
Develops, maintains, and revises contract templates and contracting guidelines to ensure uniform general contract terms and conditions are used.
Reviews, updates, and maintains contract documentation in accordance with University policies.
Conducts training sessions for procurement team staff to ensure work product across teams is in compliance with UM’s contracting standards and policies.
Applies creativity in resolving contract issues in a timely manner.
Draft and negotiates a broad range of contracts across the University of Miami enterprise, including, but not limited to, agreements for vendor agreements for the acquisition of goods and services, evaluation agreements, consignment agreements, amendments, non-disclosure agreements, license agreements, and related documents.
Reviews, negotiates, and finalizes agreements to protect patient information, such as business associate agreements and data transfer agreements.
Serves as a subject matter expert on HIPAA/HITECH issues tied to Business Associate Agreements.
Additional duties as assigned.

J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
Florida licensed attorney preferred
Minimum five plus years’ relevant legal work experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Strong transactional experience
Experience in higher ed and/or healthcare preferred
Experience with data privacy regulations preferred
Experience working with a contract lifecycle management system preferred
