Intern - Sleep Lab|
SRI International, an over 75-year strong pioneering research institute, has a rich history supporting government and industry. Our innovations have created new industries, billions of dollars in market value and lasting benefits to society. SRI is organized around broad disciplines and capabilities, with research and development divisions and labs to groups who excel at identifying new opportunities, developing products and creating custom solutions. Our organization is driven by impact - delivering unique solutions for the world's important challenges and transforming ideas into reality for clients and partners.
The SRI Center for Health Sciences is looking for a part-time Intern to work on the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study. The NIH-sponsored ABCD Study is a multi-site nationwide study following 10,000 children for 10 years. It is the largest study to date to examine factors (e.g., sleep, physical activity, stress, trauma, substance use) that influence child and adolescent neurodevelopment. If you’re looking to get experience in a lab conducting cutting-edge research, apply to work on this project!
Interns working on this project will receive advanced training in conducting interviews, neuropsychological testing, collecting bioassays (e.g., hormone levels, DNA samples), and will also assist in acquiring advanced multi-modal MRI scans.
Our lab follows strict COVID-19 safety guidelines (including PPE, social distancing, sanitation) outlined by the CDC, ABCD Study, and SRI International for any in-person research
Schedule is flexible, will need to be available to work some evenings and weekends during the day (Saturdays or Sundays, when we run participants through the research protocol).
Currently enrolled in a degree program such as psychology, neuroscience, or a related degree.
Interest in adolescent or child development, neuropsychology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), sleep, substance use.
Energetic personality; enjoys working with children and teens (12-16 year olds).
Experience working with kids (e.g. babysitting, summer camps) or prior human subjects research is an advantage.
Detail-oriented and good organization skills are highly desired
At SRI, we prioritize the health and well-being of our employees, families, and friends above all else. In response to the increased transmissibility with recent variants, all SRI Employees must be fully vaccinated and provide proof thereof as a condition of continued or future employment with SRI. Accommodations due to medical or religious exemptions will be considered.
