Job Description
Principal Engineer

About this role:

This hands-on technical and strategic though leader with extensive industry expertise in cloud based application development who will focus on creating an enterprise class, reusable framework for microservices, API and cloud development (server-less, containers, private cloud, public cloud) methodology. This individual will leverage their advanced technical experience and understanding of organizational objectives to develop standards and best practices based framework for modern cloud based software development utilizing enterprise guidelines and service offerings. Selected candidate will act as an expert resource for architects in the development of target cloud reference architectures.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the IT Transformation Money Movement application portfolio to redesign, build and run in distributed and scalable hybrid cloud environments
  • Providing technical consultation and support in the development of end-to-end automated software solutions capable of interfacing and integrating with in-house developed and vendor developed solutions and plug-ins via APIs and web services
  • Create a cloud vision and best practices, develop prototypes, reusable frameworks, patterns, and standards.
  • Create a holistic automation roadmap and execute on the roadmap to support "2 week release cycle" by partnering with peer Lines Of Business and Enterprise automation teams
  • Leading and mentoring members of the development team, working with teams across the organization to meet common goals, and leading in-depth technical discussions to address complex requirements
  • Develop engineering best practices, guidelines, standards and accelerators.
  • Develop strategies to improve developer productivity and reduce technology debt.
  • Evaluate and incubate modern technologies and engineering practices.
  • Create elegant solution designs for delivering highly resilient and scalable microservices using Kubernetes.
  • Provide expert counsel to senior technology leadership and advises and mentors engineering teams
  • Collaborate with architecture leadership in driving the transformation to modern architectures.
  • Represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards
  • Experience with JAVA and .NET Technologies

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience; or 10+ years of experience in a technical management role
  • 2+ years of experience in building and deploying microservices and cross channel restful Application Programming Interface (APIs) using Apigee
  • 3+ years of experience with secure DevOps and deployment automation to cloud environments
  • 3+ years of experience with Cloud technologies
  • 8+ years of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) experience
  • 7+ years of Java experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • Experience in one or a combination of the following: Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes
  • 5+ years of database experience
  • Knowledge of widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, DDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Knowledge and understanding of application or software security such as: web application penetration testing, secure code review, secure static code analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: solutions development
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex enterprise systems and frameworks including frontends, middleware, services layer, database, backend and downstream interfaces
  • 2+years of NoSQL experience
