Job Description
Manager, Events
The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Manager, Events to work on the UHealth Campus. The Manager, Events oversees the strategy and planning of meetings and special events for assigned department(s). Additionally, the Manager, Events ensures that all events meet required timeline, surpass expectations, and further the University’s goals and objectives.
Meets with SCCC leadership or responsible party(ies) to understand event strategic goals, ascertain budget and services required, ensure necessary SCCC and university approvals are obtained, and other required logistical requirements can be met; maintains close communication throughout.
Develops program timeline and checklist, agenda, budget, and services according to stated goals and requirements. Manages budget to meet desired goals and avoid cost overruns.
Secures venue, conducts site inspections to ensure that they conform to stated requirements, and oversees all aspects related to set-up, catering, speakers’ and guests’ needs, AV, transportation, signage, displays, and other logistics.
If a virtual event, secures appropriate platform (in consultation with AV department and others) and oversees all technical aspects related to the virtual event, including necessary training and practice sessions for presenters and participants.
Handles travel and lodging logistics.
Ensures that events proceed as scheduled and do not conflict with other activities.
Produces and manages marketing materials and social media strategies, including developing websites, in close collaboration with the SCCC marketing department as appropriate, and creates and manages list servs and other lists for mass marketing and emailing in large numbers and as appropriate to event.
Manages registration and RSVPs and all communications with registrants and attendees.
Coordinates all the calendar functions
Works independently and with other University departments on back end of registration fees, credit cards, audit reports and reconciliations.

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of business and management principles.
Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
