The Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Medical Assistant 1 to work on the UHealth Campus. The Medical Assistant 1 assists in the examination and treatment of patients, under the direction of a physician. Moreover, the incumbent interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. The Medical Assistant 1 also draws and collects blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis.
Obtain vital signs and patient information for inclusion in the patientís medical record for multi-disciplinary Dermatology practice.
May provide treatments, perform/order routine laboratory tests under the direction of an attending physician, and assist in other patient care activities such as dressing changes and leg wraps.
Acquire prior authorizations for medications or procedures as needed with insurance carrier when needed.
Answer and return triage calls as well as provide patients with benign results.
Order, stock, and inventories supplies and assist in performing clerical duties.
This position will provide coverage between our 4 clinics as well as provide cross MA coverage.

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Certified Medical Assistant Certification - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
BLS American Heart Association Certification
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
