Job Description
Sr. Research Associate 2
The SCCC department has a great opportunity for a Senior Research Associate 2 (second level research position, track one) supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director. This individual will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of sophisticated fluorescence flow cytometry and mass cytometry systems within the facility. Co-ordinate the appropriate use of computer work-stations, assist with training and application of integrated computer software suites. Interpret spectral properties of fluorescent dyes and design complex reagent panels, with appropriate laser and detector choices, spectral overlap compensation and pulse-processing for data acquisition, as well as culture plate cell deposition and other options for cell sorting. Perform instrument diagnosis, trouble-shooting and resolution of problems, both technical and operational. Administ rative duties, including responsibility for electronic tracking of instrument reservations and use, subsequent invoicing and collection of monthly charges for services. Work with budgeting, selection and ordering of supplies. Prepare specimens for developmental projects and/or to assist with sample prep and staining as needed for validation of service lines. Write SOP operation manuals for the flow cytometry shared resource.
