Job Description
Marketing Manager
The Marketing Manager, Commercial Marketing, will create and execute regional marketing programs that drive U.S. demand for existing and new products following launch. Responsibilities will be to develop tailored messaging based on customer drives and demand. She/he will develop product pricing and promotional programs that support the go-to-market strategy and drive sustainable adoption and income gains.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Marketing Programs – Develop and execute holistic programs that generate demand and brand preference that supports the regional Plan of Action (POA) and delivers the 12-18 month business plan. Make program recommendations based on competitive intelligence and voice-of-customer market research. Pilot, launch, and track program success with clear metrics to monitor effectiveness and adjust as appropriate. Retire ineffective programs and associated collateral and content. Collaborate closely with NPD Marketing and Field Sales Leadership to ensure successful product launches.
  • Pricing and Promotions – Develop and gain approval for specific product pricing by customer tier within established pricing corridors. Own and track the average selling price (ASP) within region. Develop and execute promotional program that drive sustainable product adoption and net income gains. Pilot, launch, and track program success with clear metrics to monitor effectiveness and adjust as appropriate.
  • Messaging and Tools – Tailor positioning and claims to impactful local messaging by understanding core customer decision drivers. Test and monitor messaging effectiveness and adjust as appropriate. Develop tools to optimize direct (e.g., sales force, direct-to-physician) and indirect (e.g., advertising in scientific journals) communication that results in meaningful customer behavior changes and deliver on the business plan. Support sales meetings and conferences to drive messaging, drive tool adoption, gain feedback from stakeholders, and enable sales execution. Gain copy clearance approval on developed collateral. Manage marketing message weight and overall investment across marketing levers. Collaborate with and communicate decisions to key commercial stakeholders, especially the field sales force. Identify new technical tools (e.g., digital sales aids) and communication forums (e.g., social media) to drive messaging effectiveness and generate new leads.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years of experience in commercial marketing or sales, including at least 2 years of experience working directly with a sales force
  • Able to clearly articulate the business case for a new program and the value proposition for stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize potential solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to leader without formal authority
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with commercial partners and customer groups and excel at partnering with other commercial stakeholders (especially the sales force)
  • Track record of delivering on commercial organization voice-of-customer
  • Demonstrated ability to influence people without daily face-to-face interactions
  • Aptitude for working in a complex and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to work closely with highly clinical teams and quickly understand technology and clinical concepts
  • Able to work in a cadaveric laboratory setting

Preferred:
  • Advanced degree
  • Proven track record of successful marketing programs and campaigns that drive results and hands-on experience developing marketing collateral, sales direction and local messaging
  • Core marketing skills (i.e., branding, positioning, claims, packaging, messaging and agency management)
  • Proficiency with financial/spreadsheet analysis
  • Previous experience interacting with medical devices, including ENT or other specialty medical devices
  • Experience in upstream marketing and strategic utilization of market research techniques, with demonstrated ability to independently run primary market research studies and evaluate alongside secondary market data
  • Prior experience in the medical device or regulatory industry, especially in product management, R&D, medical device sales and/or marketing
  • Practical clinical skills (e.g., interpreting and applying new research to adjust product positioning and develop new regional claims)
  • Experience with Adobe design software applications (i.e., InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere)

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is located in an office environment and requires frequent meetings and working for extensive periods on a computer
  • Minimal lifting may be required

  • Position located in Menlo Park, CA
  • Up to 30% domestic travel required
