Finance Manager, Advanced Therapies

What You Will Do?

The Finance Manager be a critical member of the newly formed Advanced Therapies (ATx) business, helping to establish fundamental processes to drive sales, revenue and profitability targets. This role is a unique hybrid opportunity to support Cell Therapy (CTx) commercial as well as support financial reporting/analysis for the Advanced Therapies business. Creative and innovative thinking will be needed to develop sound deal models and establish scalable processes within a fast-paced work environment. Additionally, it will provide financial analytics on a wide range of operational and strategic decision making to support achieving the business’ objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages the month end close process across the ATx portfolio businesses, including required analytics, reporting and forecasting to provide visibility to senior leadership.
  • Benchmarks and collaborates across Thermo Fisher to understand best practices while establishing fundamental processes.
  • Identifies and actions improvements in reporting and analytics as the business need evolves.
  • Supports the senior leadership team in the strategic plan and annual budget processes.
  • Maintains tracking for strategic investments, including capital, human capital and associated ROI.
  • Analyzes historical and forecast data to perform trend analysis.
  • Provides relevant data, analytics, and fact-based recommendations.
  • Establishes self as a subject matter expert on financial systems.
  • Implements and leads ATx Admin cost center reporting and forecasting mechanism with functional leaders to drive accountability.
  • Provides analytical support for commercial deal modeling and special projects/analysis, as needed.

How Will You Get Here?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Advanced Hyperion, Oracle/Essbase, and Excel skills.
  • SAP skills preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use those skills to influence and drive change.
  • Strong and persuasive communicator: essential to have credibility within a dynamic, challenging environment to drive change and establish process.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • Ability to have effective working relationships across the company.
  • Desire to formulate and implement process/structure with drive to continue to challenge the status quo.
  • Demonstrated focus on being able to translate data and metrics into predictable, value-add business insight.
  • Strong results orientation, bias for action.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong process rigor.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines while delivering consistent, accurate and reliable work
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with broad guidance against a framework of defined business objectives in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to comfortably interact with all levels of management.
  • Travel requirements: 10-15%.
