The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration (FFA), Research and Data Analysis division are looking for their newest member to join an amazingly talented and highly collaborative team. You’ll apply your IT and SQL Server expertise to develop processes and explore new technologies and software.
Most of the duties can be accomplished via telework.
Research and Data Analysis is centrally positioned within DSHS to provide data, analytics, and decision support tools to improve the delivery of services that transform lives. This division is comprised of teams that design, implement, and maintain IT applications to support data analytics meeting a vast array of agency business.
You’ll apply your IT expertise to maintain the division's SQL Server central analytic data infrastructure. This infrastructure is fundamental to our division’s analytic and decision support activities, impacting many projects across the agency and other state and local agencies.
You’ll use current technologies to optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL server environments. You’ll work closely with data management staff to ensure that the division's SQL Server multi-agency integrated analytic data infrastructure is optimized for current business needs and that all DSHS IT and Security Standards are implemented and adhered to.
Some of what you’ll do
-Maintain multi-agency integrated database SQL server infrastructure
-Develop, design, implement, and maintain SQL processes to aid in database administrator duties
-Install database management system platforms (DBMS such as MS SQL Server and Oracle) across multiple operating systems and physical/virtual server instances
-Ensure peak server performance, test and evaluate results of software patches, and ensure assigned servers are compliant with security standards
-Ensure adherence to procedures in the promotion of deploying SQL Server solutions to our central analytic SQL Server production environment
-Explore and evaluate new technologies and software to be potentially utilized by the division in our integrated analytic data infrastructure, including satellite data repositories
We are looking for IT professionals with:
An associate’s degree in IT or related program and 6 years of progressively more responsible IT work experience with administrative databases
OR a bachelor’s degree including 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses and 4 years of progressively more responsible IT work experience with large, complex administrative databases. (A master’s degree in computer science will substitute for 2 additional years of experience.)
Three or more years MS SQL Server T-SQL programming experience
Three or more years managing/administering SQL Server servers that host large complex administrative databases
-Experience comparing and evaluating DBMS technologies for performance and making recommendations for adoption
-Analyzing transactional-level data (e.g. medical claims and encounters)
-Auditing for HIPPA and state/federal IT security compliance requirements
-IIS server administration
-MS SQL Server Database architecture and design
