What youll do

Pall has a range of single use bioreactors that is constantly being refined and updated to meet our customer needs. A position has become available for a Scientist/Engineer II role in Palls Biotech R&D Bioprocessing team at the companys New England Centre of Excellence in Westborough, MA. The team is responsible for process research support for new product developments within Pall.

This individual will work closely with Pall colleagues, including R&D, product management, sales, and manufacturing to ensure Pall technologies continue to serve the evolving needs of our customers in the bioprocess industry.

Purpose

This entry-level role is responsible for effectively executing tasks related to new product development and other projects required to achieve department goals. Building technical, organizational and project management expertise is key in this role.

• Applies technical knowledge acquired through academic training or other equivalent experience.
• Learns from both internal and external sources to develop expertise in technology/ process areas of importance.
• Works with some autonomy and develops short-term plans whilst also being advised by more senior associates.
• Works in a collaborative manner in cross functional teams.
• Focused and results oriented, approaches the job with energy and commitment.
• Maintains accurate records and communicates effectively through technical reports and presentations.
• Contributes to invention disclosures, Pall publications and external technical journals.
• Acquires knowledge of Danaher Business System (DBS) tools and participates in Kaizen and other DBS activities as required.
• Travel to conferences, customers as required.
• Complies with all company policies and procedures, e.g. code of conduct and safety compliance.
• Upstream cell culture using Pall single-use bioreactor systems
• Project planning and execution
• Data analysis and preparation of technical presentations and reports

The team is responsible for the timely delivery of bioprocessing deliverables for the following project types:

• New Product Development projects (Helping to establish customer requirements and target claims; Competitor benchmarking; Prototype screening; Alpha and beta testing; Product testing to establish performance claims; Publications to support product launches etc)
• Applications Projects (Feed stock development; Product claim extension / product positioning; Process modelling / economics and assay development etc)
• Technology Projects (Assessing and testing new ideas / technologies), and
• Support of legacy products and quality improvement projects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Aseptic technique and experience with mammalian cell culture
• Upstream production and working knowledge of gene therapy viral vectors (AAV, Lentivirus)
• Experience with statistical analysis software
