Public Works Manager ABOUT THE POSITION The Public Works Manager leads programmatic, educational, and artistic activities for the Public Works program. This role's primary responsibility is to build and maintain community that results in astonishing art, in so doing yielding returns that continue beyond the time frame of any one program. This role deepens relationships between Seattle Rep and the community in several ways, including through partnerships; modeling and promoting the mission and values of Seattle Rep and Public Works; envisioning and executing participatory artistic endeavors; cultivating excellent relationships and consistent communication with professional artists, internal staff, community partners, teaching artists, participants, volunteers, and related organizations. This role supervises all Public Works events both on and off-site; manages the Public Works budget; tracks participation and impact of programs; and works closely with the national Public Works cohort in service of our shared goals. Typical Duties Include: Build and Maintain Community Collaborate with community partners to create programs and opportunities to deepen Seattle Reps relationships with its communities and to promote mutual benefit for all parties. Ongoing programming, both on and off site, has included weekly classes, events, and rehearsals for the annual production. Manage logistics for on and off-site programs. (e.g., scheduling, transportation support, hospitality, supplies, etc.) Maintain consistent communication with staff, partners, community through such avenues as a regular newsletter, emails, social media, and the Public Works phone regarding events, program updates and relevant activity at Seattle Rep, partner organizations, and local community. Collaborate interdepartmentally across Seattle Rep adding to the collegial health of the organization while accomplishing the necessary tasks. (e.g. provide development with program numbers, support social media engagement in classes & events, communicate marketing needs for the Public Works production and events throughout the year, production department planning for calendaring and event logistics, etc.) Add actively and constructively to the EDI (equity, diversity & inclusion) work of the organization. Support Teaching Artists Identify Teaching Artists and coordinate schedules, contracts, and pay schedule. Supervise Teaching Artists and curriculum development. Support continuity and community growth in the development and planning of classes. Support Teaching Artists in classes as needed. Support Public Works Department Execute programs, session planning, and day-to-day needs of community in workshops, events, and production. Supervise the Public Works Apprentice, Teaching Artists and program over hire staff. Represent Public Works in the greater Theater Community by engage with and striving to embody Seattle Reps mission, vision, and values in all aspects of the work. Volunteer Management Maintain the volunteer cohort including recruitment. Train, schedule, and supervise volunteers as needed for events and rehearsals. Support the communitys leadership group, Community Collaborators, by holding quarterly meetings and inviting specific member to various opportunities in support of Seattle Rep and Public Works. Minimum Qualifications: Commitment to, and knowledge of, community-based theater practice and processes. Commitment to, and knowledge of, racial equity and social justice strategies. An interest in the arts. Excellent communication skills; written and verbal. Proven project management skills. Desire to collaborate with diverse communities. Understanding of trauma-informed practice and centering accessibility. Experience with Microsoft 365, Google Suite, or similar computer-based network programs. Desired Qualifications: A working knowledge of Seattles cultural communities performing arts, community centers, non-profits, publications. Experience in theater education. Experience with Tessitura.
