Sr. Assistant Director for ISO Advising Services Under the general direction of the Sr. Associate Director for Advising Services, with latitude for independent judgement, oversees advising services for over 3750 currently enrolled and recently graduated F-1 and J-1 international students and their dependent family members. The Sr. Assistant Director is responsible for the recruiting, hiring, training and monitoring of staff which includes weekly staff and advisor immigration training and policy meetings and conducting annual reviews, regulatory policy development, and serve as the Principle Designated School Official (PDSO) and Alternative Responsible Officer to the Department of Homeland Security and the Exchange Visitor Program of the U.S. Department of State. Supervision and Management (25%) Responsible for the supervision, on-going evaluation, and support of the professional development of six advisers. Assists in gathering data for budget development and strategic planning. Works with the Sr. Associate Director to design and deliver cross-training for the principle advising teams on non-immigrant and employment-based immigration regulations and assist with departmental training and for other stakeholders. Program Administration (25%) Provides management, expert regulatory policy interpretation, data analysis, collaborates with Systems and Operations, Support and Engagement, and the Scholar/Employee teams to deliver the full scope of services needed to support international populations across all academic, medical, and administrative units. Oversees all communications, engagement opportunities, staff development to implement high-impact immigration advising and related support services. Immigration Compliance (25%) Serves as the PDSO for the F-1 and ARO for the J-1 programs and liaises with relevant US government agencies. Interprets and implements policies and protocols for federal compliance and all mandated reporting requirements. Works with the Systems and Operations to test and maintain internal systems and data integration and transmission with enterprise systems. Develops and codifies Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all processes and policies. Will be expected to carry an advising case load commensurate with other management and program administration responsibilities. Service and Support (25%) Working with the Support and Engagement team, designs and administers periodic assessment of advising service and client experience and utilizes data and research and best practice to develop and implement targeted programs, engagement opportunities, and support for students and scholars within the university and the broader Rochester community.
