EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CREATIVE AND COMMUNICATIOS Executive Director, Creative and Communications Arizona State University Office of the CIO Campus: Tempe 88428BR Job Description Serving one of the largest universities in the nation, ranked number one in innovation and sustainability, ASU’s Enterprise Technology advances the dynamic digital ecosystem that drives how the ASU community learns, works and thrives. Enterprise Technology is seeking an Executive Director of Creative and Communications to take a diverse slate of organizational activities and services and develop a unified enterprise message, employing the proper strategies to amplify it. This role serves in partnership with the ASU Brand, Media Relations, Strategic Communications and marketing and communications groups from across the ASU enterprises. Additionally, this position strives to make inherently complex technological advancements more accessible through refining the brand – a unifying vision, strategy, and voice. Working directly with Executive Leadership, ASU marketing and strategic communications leadership and staff, and other key stakeholders, the Executive Director will create and lead the execution of a roadmap, reflecting a clear set of priorities to help: ● Advance the work of three portfolios within the Creative x Communications chapter, including strategic communications, storytelling and visual designs ● Define (and refine) annual communication campaigns that encompass the work and impact across Enterprise Technology initiatives ● Cultivate sustainable strategies for communicating across a large and diverse technology organization – including departmental partners across the university ● Articulate a forward-thinking strategy around social media, in support of communications, culture and talent ● Grow innovative approaches to creating digital media (video, photography, podcasts and interactive) that enhances storytelling for inspiring action ● Provide creative stewardship in the planning, facilitation and design of a growing slate of hosted and co-hosted events — including but not limited to culture- and innovation-building events, annual ASU-wide IT events, and international education changemaking events ● Shape the Enterprise Technology brand as driving the most innovative, collaborative and future-focused digital ecosystem to enhance the experiences and services of ASU As with everyone in the Enterprise Technology team, our intentional focus on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging as well as culture and communications are core responsibilities in this role. Salary Range Depends on experience Close Date 24-February-2023 Essential Duties Active participation and contribution as part of the ASU Enterprise Technology leadership team Advance a creative team of eight full-time staff across three portfolios of work, including strategic communications, storytelling and visual design including managing and mentoring the team’s growth Provide direct support and guidance to the Creative and Communications leaders Oversees the execution of an overall brand and communications strategy for Enterprise Technology Experience in multimedia development, including visual storytelling across video, podcasting, photography and more mediums Map the user experience across the communities we serve to ensure a compelling and impact communications strategy Perform ongoing surveillance and forecasting of the latest digital communications and marketing trends, especially in other industries and realms Manages resources to accomplish goals and initiatives to ensure they are on track to meet the overall objectives of ET Culture + Creative Provides direct support to the CIO and Alignment cores (including Chief Information Officer, Deputy CIOs, Chief Culture Officer and Chief of Staff) to evaluate Make recommendations to leadership on improving internal Enterprise Technology communications Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including media, partners, and other organizations Take responsibility for fostering culture, advancing our values, and championing engagement in all its forms -- collaborating across our teams as well as participating in ET/ASU events and programs. Minimum Qualifications Masters degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment, and eight (8) years of related administrative experience which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications Managerial experience to advance the growth and opportunities of the creative team Effective design and implementation of creative communications strategies, with a lens toward continuous iteration and stakeholder inclusion Evidence of effective communications skills Experience in the ability to effectively and efficiently synthesize a diversity of information and perspectives A substantive understanding of technology trends, particularly as they relate to higher education and/or social impact Thought leadership in digital marketing and communications -- knowledge of historic and current trends / best practices Experience leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams Advanced knowledge of marketing analytics and reporting Knowledge of strategic planning principles and practices Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective long-range relationships with ASU marketing professionals, faculty, administrators, service professionals, and staff Ability to work independently and as part of a management team Ability to shape and manage change in a complex and highly matrixed organization Strong leadership, innovation, quality management and problem resolution skills Ability to stimulate changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment Working Environment The position requires residency in Phoenix, Arizona Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%) Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%) Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities and adapt to swiftly changing requirements, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts Department Statement Enterprise Technology (ET) embraces its role as both an enabler and catalyst for advancing the vision and work of the New American University.
