Job Summary

The University of Michigan Department of Pediatrics is seeking an experienced clinician-scholar to serve as the Director of the Division of Critical Care Medicine. This highly ranked division includes 14 faculty members, 9 fellows and 6+ nurse practitioners. The 26-bed PICU in the CS Mott Children’s Hospital is a major referral center for the state and region.  The PICU faculty provides care for all pediatric medical surgical patients except for cardiac care, which has a separate ICU. The Division has several research programs that are supported by NIH grants. Responsibilities include overseeing clinical care programs, engaging in the training and professional development of students, house officers, and faculty, maintaining a strong independent research program, and working to develop and promote the research of trainees and junior faculty. There is a well-established fellowship training program. Candidates must have an M.D. or equivalent degree, be board certified Pediatric Critical Care,and be eligible for appointment as an Associate or full Professor at the University of Michigan. Desired qualifications include collaborative leadership and administrative experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, established track record in directing an active research/scholarship portfolio, and proven mentorship ability. Required Qualifications*

Requirements include an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Michigan, and certification by the American Board of Pediatrics, Pediatric Critical Care sub-board. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.
