The State of Connecticut, Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) currently recruiting for Durational Human Rights And Opportunities Trainees with the target class of Human Rights and Opportunities Complaint Intake Officer.

About Us:
The mission of the State of Connecticut, Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) is to eliminate discrimination through civil and human rights law enforcement and to establish equal opportunity and justice for all persons within the state through advocacy and education.

The Position:
In this role incumbents will assist with investigative tasks including assisting an individual who has complained of Covid-related and other types of discrimination with filing a complaint affidavit, serving the complaint, reviewing the complaint, answer, rebuttal and interrogatory responses and making an initial determination, engaging in mediation, conciliations and negotiations with the parties, noticing parties regarding investigation, conducting fact finding conferences, interviewing witnesses, reviewing current case law regarding the reasonable cause standard and writing up comprehensive findings of fact and making final investigative determinations and preparing reports, as well as participate in education and outreach activities and training.

These positions are within units that have the responsibility to investigate claims of discrimination in either housing, employment, credit transactions, or places of public accommodation that are filed with the agency and participate in education and outreach activities and training.

Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of experience involving the protection of human rights and examination of social problems of protected classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
