Medical Division Director The State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is currently seeking a qualified individual for the position of DMHAS Medical Division Director to join their team. AS A DMHAS MEDICAL DIVISION DIRECTOR YOU WILL: -Assist the Chief Medical Officer in development, implementation, and evaluation of agency-wide policies, goals, and objectives -Provide direct administrative and clinical supervision to the GPD psychiatrists and psychiatric APRNs -Provide clinical oversight of the interdisciplinary treatment teams -Serve as agency liaison with external medical, behavioral health planning, advisory groups, courts, and other state medical and service agencies -Participate in quality assurance studies and investigations -Develop processes and practices to improve quality and cost of patient care -Chair and/or participate in any risk management committee such as Division Review Committee -Manage the acuity of the patients within GPD -Conduct oversight of patients on special observation ensuring patient safety -Consult on high-risk patients and follow-up on their progress MORE ABOUT THE AGENCY, FACILITY, AND DIVISION: DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve. CVH is the largest of DMHAS facilities, and includes 17 inpatient units over two campuses (Middletown and Hartford). The hospital includes both a general psychiatry and addiction services units. CVH provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care and substance abuse treatment, including treatment for pregnant women and persons with dual diagnoses. Specialty areas include geriatric and special services, an integrated network of comprehensive mental health services for older adults and young adult services. The facility also runs the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) program which addresses the needs of TBI survivors, including; reintegration into community living, independent living skills development, vocational and educational training, psychiatric, cognitive and neurological assessment and treatment, speech and physical rehabilitation as well as individual and family counseling. GPD provides recovery oriented inpatient treatment services to a diverse client patient population throughout the state. In addition to the general psychiatry units, there are three units providing specialized program service areas: Young Adult Services (YAS) Unit, Acquired/Traumatic Brain Injury (ABI) Unit as well as several units servicing the Older Adult population. Admissions to GPD are facilitated by our Centralized Admission Department. Referrals are made through the appropriate Local Mental Health Authorities (LMHA) and screened in the Admissions Office. The Admissions Office works closely with the Office of the Commissioner to best meet the needs of all referrals. Salary: $237,781 - $315,946/year MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a hospital, clinic or correctional facility as a board certified psychiatrist.
